since you think every album is an improvement on the last, what do you think of bulldozer vs bubblegum in the context of his discography?

 

Off Screen is such a good opener/song in general

 

I say *almost every album is an improvement on the last because I think there are a couple exceptions, one of them being Bulldozer (which I still love). At the time of release, I actually preferred it to Bubblegum, but over time I've come to see it as a very solid, well-produced album that takes less risks than most of his discography. To be completely fair to Kevin, he originally intended it to be more of a raw, Nebraska-esque album that I think likely would've fared better compared to what it became under Rob Schanpf's production.

As far as Bubblegum, it's probably the most "extreme" release in his catalog as far as pushing the limits of his sound, so I still think it's his second best.

 

But my ranking could change daily so honestly who cares what I think lol

 

I see a raw, Nebraska style release as something he does in his late career. idk why but it feels right somehow haha

 

I’m not a huge btc&c fan myself. Always thought I was in the minority there

 

nah pretty sure most of the fanbase probably backs you

 

I always feel btc&c has some great, career-best songs but pound for pound it's weaker than most of his other records. I don't know what it is exactly, I think it's just lacking some of the exuberance that can be seen elsewhere in his work.

yeah, Julien and Front Bottoms seem likely. maybe Laura Stevenson cause she wasn't actually on the last round? I'd love if he did one with Jeff Rosenstock. one with Andy Hull might be possible, since they're working on Bad Books stuff anyway. Phoebe Bridgers?

I suppose there's a decent possibility that if it it involves Bazan that it's the first Pedro the Lion release in years
