  2. Brother's Blood is good, top three even, but I think a big reason I feel that way is because it's also the first album of his I heard. I spent a lot of time with those songs and they were some of the first I learned to play. But I do think the album is uneven at times, and I really think for the most part, Kevin has improved his artistry in some way, shape or form on each of his releases. That's why I feel Instigator is his best; it's his first album to actively and evenly mix every aspect of his songwriting abilities, from political power-pop to love songs and personal folk-ballads. It's all cohesive though, and I think the production actually benefits that

For some reason, Put Your Ghost to Rest still hadn't clicked with me.

I agree that BB is uneven, but over time I've come to the conclusion that it's because the best songs on that album are like out of this world good and the others are great but it's hard to compete with that.

Keep trying with PYGTR, album is so so good and really super important in his development imo. Features some of his best lyrics and it is maybe the most heartbreaking collection of songs about his addiction

PYGTR opened up to me after hearing his anecdotes on the live at St Pancras album, his writing on addiction is really heart-wrenching.

It was an acoustic/demo version. I can't find it right now, but it was on Amazon. I just liked it because it was a nice way to close out the live-in-studio album.

Not to make you feel worse, but I'm in the same camp. That post-bubblegum run was my favorite version of his live performance.

Spot on regarding PYGTR. The Burning City is maybe my favorite KD song. Contends w/ Brothers Blood (song) & I Was Alive Back Then.

Yeah I always forget about that song when thinking about my fave KevDev songs, but it's gotta be up there. The atmosphere that song creates is sensational, not to mention the lyrics.

KD always claims this as the record he is most proud of in his catalog.

I would put it in the middle of the pack but the best songs on this release are some of the best songs of his career IMO

I can certainly understand the decision, but damn, I've thought often this year about how much I miss his voice.
