I’ve listened to the singles, all very good. Really looking forward to hearing the whole thing. I’m seeing her live in late April! It’ll be my 3rd time seeing her

    Same.

As a music industry person, are you able to shed any light on why preorders like this never seem to go out until the Wednesday or Thursday before release? It seems like it should be possible to get these things in fans' hands on release day, but that almost never happens.

It depends on the distributor, but generally it’s just cheaper to send them all at once and they wait as long as possible for the preorders to come in.

Ah, I suppose that makes sense. It's just frustrating; often, I end up regretting preordering and wishing I'd just gone to my local record store to pick something up on release day. (Not that my local record store would likely have this album.)

I had also become frustrated with that same thing but I've found that I can pre-order through my local record store...I can get it the day of release, I know they're going to have a copy for me, and I don't have to pay for shipping

Came out of my music review semi-retirement to try grappling with the themes of this record.

Between this, Lizzy McAlpine, and Moreland’s new one today it’s been a great day.

Worst Case Scenario is fucking good. Leading Actress and Phases of the Moon also really stuck out to me. Great follow up.

This is so great and was a wonderful surprise as I had no idea this was coming out today.

Hard to explain fully but goddamn she just has such a great, confident voice and such great story telling in her songs. I think this is only her second album? Insane how talented she is and how great her albums are.

    I do not exist.

I’m looking forward to listening to this (currently away so won’t be until next week).

yeah this is killer. the more acoustically-centered run in the middle isn't hitting quite as strong for me as the 3-song bookends on either side, but every song has moments that leave a goosebump. I hadn't loved "White Lies, White Jesus, and You" much as a single but it is PERFECT in the two-slot. the way that guitar finally comes in at the 1:45 mark feels like turning on your car headlights in the desert at night.

also it's ironic how romantic "Phases of the Moon" sounds given the subject matter. what a song!

i like this a lot more than expectations, which i loved. self sabotage and worst case scenario are on repeat for me. excited to hear these live!

Probably a slight step down from Expectations for me, but that's a top 2-3 album of the decade, in my mind.

I finally got to listen to this and it didn't quite hit me like Expectations did on first listen but I still thought it was great. I love her way with words and melodies.
