I just think on both songs the production is lacking. This is a man who has built himself on his production talent and to get what we got in both is....half baked seems pretty damn apt.

Also his flow in Ye vs the People is off and the back and forth is not done in an interesting way. It just sounds bland to me.

I might be talking up my ass and end up liking both when the album comes out and what is/isn't on the album but I'm pretty set in my thoughts on them right now.

“FML” is so good

I was listening to TLOP the other day. I think “Wolves” is really the only track I don’t like. That thing is.....not good. I feel like there is a faction of fans that would die defending it though.

I love Wolves because of the SNL performance so I like it on TLOP but he never quite captured the magic on a recording imo.

This 100% plus the behind the yellow eyes line from Sia was great then went back into Vic’s part.

Both Wolves and Black Skinhead performances on SNL ended up being better than the album versions. Simply distorting or layering the vocals to Black Skinhead would have made it much more intense / better

 

Kanye has had some amazing live debuts of songs,

Wolves/Black Skinhead/New Slaves on SNL

And Runaway at the 2010 VMAs? Fuck
