Ye’s entire schtick for the past few years has been about how it’s not about racism anymore, it’s about classism. Of course he would buy into the MAGA bullshit about the forgotten American working class. He views that ideal as noble, so I think that’s why he’s running with the idea of co-opting it. He’s so far removed from everyday, real racism and violence that he believes monetary income is the root of a lot of problems.

That’s all on top of his infauation with celebrity and the idea that Trump is “honest” or w/e. Remember how frustrated he was about him/Kim not being respected in fashion because they were hip hop/reality TV stars? A reality star just became president, and he’s hype.

 

Also - politics/lyrics aside - the single with TI is actual garbage and the fact that anyone likes it is mind boggling to me

I mean it’s not surprising it’s not a good song. It’s basically an argument over a beat recorded 2 days ago. It’s a throwaway.

It doesn't make it any better if as I imagine Kanye isn't anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim or any other parts of Trump's platform and he's able to just ignore all that shit and be like hey it's not politics this Trump guy just speaks to people, that's a helluva lot of privilege

This is exactly what I wanted to say. People know class IS much of the root cause but they fail to really understand how that links to so many problems today and historically. Many of them take a wrong turn or stay stubbornly in place.

Again everyone is headlocked into liberal v conservative, Democrat v Republican, that they fail to see the idea of socialism and what it means. partly because up until very recently it wasn't really discussed.

We could go back to the cold war and the anti commie propaganda, and how the world's leftists were p much martyred, and thus, the ideas of socialism went underground the past 3 decades.
