This has really grown on me. I've had the hook to No Mistake stuck in my head all morning.

 

The Slick Rick sample is the only thing I like on No Mistakes

 

This should be an EP... it also seems like it doesn't add much of anything to his discography. It's not terrible though. If this were a release by a new artist, it wouldn't get much attention.

The third listen had me finding things that I liked about this but maybe thats just because I'm actively looking for it since people I respect have enjoyed this record. "Yikes" is still probably my least favourite song of the year.

 

Do y’all think he’s going to tinker with the songs like with Pablo? It simply doesn’t make sense to me that he would release (what sounds like) the unfinished mixes and consider that acceptable. I’m all for rappers writing and releasing songs in a brief time period as long as the quality is still there. This just sounds like he was halfway-finished and gave up because of time constraints.

 

Pretty positive responsives from my friends IRL. They all like Yikes which I find weak

 

Yikes is very bad. That tambourine (hell, the whole beat) sounds like it came out of GarageBand and his "bipolar as a superpower" shit is fucking annoying and dangerous.

 

Am I not supposed to interpret that line about him getting "Me Too'd" as an admission to sexually abusive behavior ??

 

my coworkers who are about 4-5 years younger than me are all split on it

honestly this album doesnt really sound like its even mixed though lol that tambourine is god awful

I really think he just relates to people being “pursucuted” because that’s how he feels but the difference between saying crazy bullshit and sexual assault is very different

 

Theyre all hip hop fans too, not the /mu/ crowd defending it. They sideeyed him on Twitter but felt he made amends. Idk

my co-workers all think new Kanye sucks and graduation is the best album he ever made so I'm glad it stays that way

 

That’s tragic, Graduation might be his worst or 2nd imo. Still fantastic album.

 

People I've talked to in real life seem to agree that this album would benefit from a lot of tinkering and editing, that it feels unfinished and not up to quality.

 

Wouldn’t be shocked if that’s the situation with this and KSG, he’ll probably tweak stuff once he’s done with these albums that are supposed to come out this month.

 

i feel like this can be great. but unlike TLOP which could use some tweaking I feel that these are demos that need rewriting, restructuring, remastering, re-recording, etc.

 

I think Kanye a few years back would, but current Kanye is going to leave this album as-is

 

He canned a whole album after the TMZ debacle and made a new album.
