the amount of effort required to devote a "critical eye" to this record is far more than kanye deserves at this point. it's just impenetrable - it may as well be metal machine music. there might be a brilliant record under here, but I certainly don't have time to dig it out.

I listened up through hurricane. I think there were some decent beats, but absolutely nothing to compel me to keep listening. I might listen to the rest of the album over the next week of me taking showers, so my opinion may change.

but honestly who is still listening to kanye at this point beyond music critics stuck in the early 2000's? I guarantee you none of my college students give half a shit.

This is way better than Ye and JiK but right now the taste it leaves is way worse and I don’t think I’m going to be able to get past it. Unfortunately, while Kanye has always been abrasive, he was someone I always rooted for and looked up to, which was a major component of his music. With that no longer being the case, and the fact that he now only knows how to push boundaries through controversy and toxicity rather than the music, I think the best parts of this record just prove to me that even when his art is successful, it’s just not going to connect with me at all given who he is today.

 

Glad Kanye gave DaBaby a platform to quintuple down on his dumb bullshit.

 

Some parts on this album are mixed so poorly it boggles my mind. Why is there this popsmoke feature where you can hear the high hats rattling to the original beat bleed through the mic? This shit just sounds far away from finished

 

Pay me to do it and I will I don't get what the hold up is
