  2. I've NEVER been a country fan, but damn, this record is flawless. "Lonely Weekend" is a highlight for me.

y'all should listen to the GOAT miranda lambert, start with crazy ex-girlfriend or platinum

everything ashley monroe has done is good, do not sleep on either of the pistol annies records either

i mean, if you get as far as maren morris in the pop country universe, miranda's just a stone's throw away from her in terms of production/songwriting

Alright fine I'll throw my hat into the get Kayla into country ring. I know you asked for similar stuff to Kacey and people have definitely thrown out some good female examples, but I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you to listen to Jason Isbell and John Moreland. But if we're sticking with females:

Lori McKenna - The Bird & the Rifle
Caroline Spence - Spades and Roses

and for something a little poppier
    Danielle Bradbery - I Don't Believe We've Met

Wish I could get into that H.C. McEntire record. Does nothing for me.

I’m pretty much the exact opposite. Mcentire’s album is probably in my top 10 where as this Musgraves album is just ok to me. They are both clearly in the country genre, but I think they are pretty different styles of country.

Speaking of country music, y'all should check out the podcast Cocaine and Rhinestones. It's created/hosted by David Allan Coe's son and is a working history of 20th century country music.

    It is fascinating.

Well make sure to stop back in here or in the country music thread and let us know if we've converted another Chorus person to country!

This is honestly one of my favorite records from this year and I've been telling all my non-country music listening pals to listen to it. I remember loathing country music growing up, but as I got older, my tastes shifted more towards the Americana side of things. I'm also on board with this "Get Kayla Into Country" thing. And I'm super thankful to know @Craig Manning who has A+ recs for country music!

  17. It's actually incredible how many people have told me that.

I'm not even remotely upset. Guess Staircase needs to cover it.

Also, Logan Brill doesn't really sound anything like Kacey, but she gets my highest recommendation, too. This is one of the great country songs of the decade:

And "Where Rainbows Never Die" is a Chris Stapleton song, from his SteelDrivers days. I hope we get a new Logan album this year, too. I saw her play last summer and she did 2-3 new songs that were incredible.
