Yeah, the end of the first chorus of “Space Cowboy” lands REAL fucking hard no doubt

Btw the cover keeps reminding me of this:

Yeah, that was a good call. I didn't listen to any of the songs more than 2-3 times, but still.

“Happy and Sad” almost has a late 90s Lilith Fair-adjacent kind of sound to it. Those bouncy drums remind me of Meredith Brooks lol

I realized recently that listening to advance songs for something I was planning to listen to already has actually never improved my experience. Not once. Either the songs are a letdown and color the way I view the record, distorting my actual impression, or they're great and I've probably taken that first listen buzz out of one of the best songs on the record.

It's been really hard to resist but I'm trying to stick to it.

The chorus melody makes me think, like, '78-'82 soft rock, too.

She pulls in elements of so many genres on this without ever losing herself.

I've definitely been cutting back on that. I still have trouble waiting when it's one of my favorite artists, though, which Kacey definitely is. I've had an easier time waiting on the new Ashley Monroe songs, for instance.

Kacey was the worst. My girlfriend listened to each one the second they came out and was trying so hard not to talk about them, but...

I can’t stop thinking about this album, and I keep waking up with songs from it stuck in my head.

I think my strategy going forward might be to listen to the lead single and then not listen to anything else, at least for my favorite artists. That way, I get a taste but don't knock out an entire quarter of the record before it actually comes out.

Really hate that she's coming to Detroit but opening for Harry Styles. Not paying $100+ to watch her play 15 minutes.

Her melodies are almost universally perfect, immaculate little masterpieces by themselves. She always seems to hit the right note at the right moment, and she does some of the best vocal runs I’ve maybe ever heard here. This record is total bliss.

It's going to be fun watching good writers try to pin down what some of these songs sound like.

The chord progression in Slow Burn almost gives me Pink Moon-era Nick Drake vibes.

Nick Drake was the vibe I got from that song, too.

  19. Same. The past few mornings, "Space Cowboy" has been stuck in my head... and also an old Amy Grant song, which is odd... haha

Too hard, haha. I'm eating up every little thing the 1975 drops before Music For Cars.

I dunno which of you turned me onto Natalie Hemby's solo album, but I quite like it a lot

Glad this is officially out. Outside of the singles, Love Is a Wild Thing, Happy and Sad, and Velvet Elvis are my highlights. High Horse is still the GOAT though.
