We reach for the longest shadow

Trying to limit my listening of this since I don't want to wear it out before it's even out, but man, it is all I want to listen to.

    what a waste of wood

Every thing I've listened to since Monday I want to rush through so I can keep listening to this. Listening right now.

Probably need to limit myself as well.

"Happy & Sad" has turned into one of my favorites.

K I've managed to only listen to this once all the way through today (replayed High Horse 3 times though)

Have only listened to the first two songs released. So excited to hear the whole thing tomorrow. Was hoping to purchase the vinyl for my first listen, but money is a bit tight. Damn you, finances.

Ugh still haven't listened and my vinyl is supposed to be here tomorrow so I think I'll try to wait until after work but it's going to be a long day.

Even loving the last two records like I do, I'm pretty comfortable calling this one her best. I think she took it to another level.

This is one of the best produced albums of all time. Holy fucking shit.

Crisp doesn't even begin to describe it. This album was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in heaven.

This record is a fucking miracle. Haha

Do you know if it's her band playing on it? I don't have liner notes or anything

I've been playing this constantly at work. Normally I'd be annoying people but now my coworkers are hooked and have been asking me to put it on whenever I'm listening to something else.

Didn't know "Butterflies" was co-written by Natalie Hemby. Very Cool.

Edit: Looks like she has a credit on "Velvet Elvis" and "Rainbow" too.

I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe "Love Is a Wild Thing."

Her live band? Not sure. My vinyl hasn't come yet. I kind of get the sense that she's working with mostly new musicians here, though. I know she dated her guitar player for awhile, but he's not the dude she married so I don't think he's on here.

She co-wrote "Good Ol' Boys Club" on the last record. Pretty sure she had some backing vocal credits on both Same Trailer and Pageant Material, too.

I love that "Love Is a Wild Thing" is basically just telling The War on Drugs "hey did you know your sound could be super accessible?"

I love the little ways the bass changes at the end of "Love is a Wild Thing" and "Space Cowboy" that make the hair on my neck stand up

I love that she knew exactly how short to keep "Mother"

I love that she knew not to clutter up the chorus on "High Horse"

I love the little vocorder bit at the end of the first chorus of "Space Cowboy"

I love that I'm going to keep catching little things like this because this record is just drowning in details

"Love Is a Wild Thing" has turned into one of my favorites. Along with "Happy & Sad" at the moment.

The only song I'm not totally crazy about is "Wonderful World" but I still love it.

For me, "Space Cowboy" and "Rainbow" are the clear favorites, in the same way that "Miserable" and "Late to the Party" leapt out at me on the last one

Yuuup. I love the story behind it as well.

"The shortest song on the album and maybe the most meaningful. One summer night, surfing waves of LSD and feeling nostalgic for everywhere and everyone all at once, I got a text from my mom. It made me miss her. It made me think about her hands. Hands that carry out the vision her imagination brings on canvas with her beloved paints and brushes. Hands that find treasure in found junk. Hands dirtied by the East Texas soil. Hands that held me. And I found the thought of this cycle overwhelming, sad, and beautiful; me sitting there in Tennessee missing my mom in Texas who’s sitting there missing her mother who passed away several years ago. And it will go on and on. The tears were flowing and I wrote these words down and finished it the next day. Then sat by the piano while Ian played and just sang."

It's always special finding a record that you'll be listening to for the rest of your life. This is an all-timer for me already.

I love "Oh What a World." That's top three for me, probably. My least favorite is pretty easily the title track.

Definitely love those two, as well. I'm probably underrating "Space Cowboy" because I heard it first. Her vocals on "Rainbow" are so good.

"Rainbow" sounds like a song that would play at the end of a super peaceful daytime PBS show or something haha. It just makes me so happy.

I'm so happy I held off listening to any advance songs. Wouldn't trade the rush I got from "Space Cowboy" and "High Horse" in context for anything.
