Imo he’s pretty average for pop artists as far as lyrics go, some memorable lines in his songs, but plenty of clunkers mixed in as well.

  3. I was a bit shocked people were commenting on the lyrics. Like, yeah ... that’s a known quantity.

Its good, not great. I know theres still 14 more songs to hear, but the fact he led with these 2 makes me a little nervous.

I’m into it. But I’m also not listening for his lyrical ability.

Song is good. Honestly surprised by how much people don't like this one.

Pretty disappointed with both tracks released thus far. Hope the rest of the album is better.

I like it. I agree with Jason that I suspect it'll sound way better in context. I prefer Filthy.

I like it. Not blowing me away but it's fine. I don't know where all the "this feels like nature" shit they were talking during the trailer for the album came from

I just can't get over how much it sounds like a Migos song.

    this is a banger.

  17. Not impressed by this one. I feel like the lyrics kind of clash with the video's message (and that Walking Dead line is v bad). Idk. The instrumental is fine, I guess. But "Filthy" is still something else.

judging jt off his lyrics seems silly to me, that’s never been the focal point of his music.

I'm so fucking happy that the Neptunes are back that I like this song for that alone

I actually do like this a lot more than Filthy on first listen

Song is great to me, hook is good. To me it sounds like people are just hating on this and him a lot recently. When in fact none of his overall musical characteristics have changed that much.

lyrics can be not good but that doesn't mean they have to be bad.

likewise just because an artist has always had bad lyrics that doesn't mean they can't be criticized for having bad lyrics in new music.

Agreed. It just seems a bit strange to me, maybe it's the changing musical climate, because the same arguments could have been made for 20/20

Never knew people actually ever listened to Justin for his lyrics.

just because you don't listen to something for the lyrics, that doesn't mean the lyrics can't be actively off putting.

I'm not even specifically talking about Justin here because I actually liked a lot of the lyrics on 20/20 and haven't even really paid attention to the lyrics on either new song.

I didn't know how I felt about Supplies at first, but I'm all in now. The "woods"/Memphis sound makes a lot more sense now. I think I get what he's going for (at least on this song). And that bridge? Oh my god
