Justin Timberlake - Everything I Thought It Was (March 15, 2024) Album • Page 8

Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Serh, Jan 19, 2024.

  1. He's been in serious need of an editor for the past couple albums. It's a shame because the songs I do like are his best since 20/20 Part 1 but there's way too much filler.

yeah, an hour of this shit is pretty exhausting. but it's an hour AND A QUARTER. it takes a lot of nerve to make a 70-plus minute album with maybe 25 minutes of good material. somehow remains an improvement over MotW, damningly

The Judd Apatow of pop music!

  4. The world of people only listening to playlists and singles makes albums like this stand out for any of us that listen to full albums.

Just finished my first listen. Not bad but definitely felt its length

Honestly though I like MOTW waaay more than this

Was REALLY not feeling this on the first few tracks, to the point where I actually turned it off. Will try again later.

Enjoyed my first full listen, but there’s definitely a bunch of filler tracks I would cut out: Infinity Sex, Love & War and Flame especially.

Better than Man of the Woods. Which is all I was hoping for.

It’s JT making adult contemporary pop. If you’re not cool with that at this age then idk what to tell you.

The second half of Technicolor is so good. I wish the first half was shortened a bit

Wow, currently Ariana is projected to stay at #1 this week with 90k, and Kacey is gonna snag #2 with 80k. No mention yet on what JT's projections are, but pretty wild it'll be like his first album since 2000 that didn't go to number 1.

20/20 1 did almost a million in a week. My how the mighty have fallen.

I assume he’ll have poor numbers. Streaming is driven by those under 30yo…is there anyone in that age group that is really craving some new JT?

There also hasn’t been a hit at radio and I doubt the legacy fans are running out to buy a physical copy, they just want him to shut up and play the hits.

I honestly can't imagine that his team EXPECTED a number one album either, but who knows. Feels relatively self aware that this is a pretty downtempo release without and banger hits and that his core audience is older now and not running the charts

Yeah I think the tiny desk setlist and his nsync embrace shows that this is his legacy era

I made a condensed 12 track playlist of this. Surprisingly I think only 1 of them is a Timberland produced song. Funny that I had assumed the lack of Timberland is what made MOTW so bland.

I think Timbaland has fully fallen off. He hasn't produced a good song in a long while.

I find this to be significantly less enjoyable than Man of the Woods, which I didn’t particularly like.

I have "Love & War" STUCK in my head. I feel like he already made this song before but I'm still liking it.
