It is barely even a romance in the movie. Do they even hug or kiss once?

No kissing. And I think the only hugging is maybe reuniting after being apart a long time and grappling together when they and the kids are cornered by the raptors.

there was definitely a low key will they/won’t they dynamic at play and Malcom flirting causing Alan jealousy. It’s certainly not a huge part of the film by any means.

I always read it in the original as nothing romantic had ever happened, likely because of Alan not wanting kids. JP3 confirms it never ended up working out between them.

It was definitely barely a plot in the film though. Just an added bit of tension in the non-action scenes.

Yea, but by the end of the film Alan has a new appreciation for kids due to his time with the kids. So it points to maybe it becoming a thing. But yes, 3 makes it clear that if they tried, it didn’t work out. I wonder if it’ll be referenced at all in Dominion.

And yes, it wasn’t really plot. Just an aspect of their dynamic and caused tension between Alan and Malcom.

It is wild how much older everyone looked in their 20s and 30s in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Watching the OG now and this is somehow the first time I’ve realized Ellie just keeps yelling “shit” when the trex is chasing the jeep.

With each rewatch I also noticed that Dennis also wasn't totally wrong. I mean, yeah, he put the lives of people at risk, but Hammond was a greedy dick to him. Dude could even help his one-man security with financial issues. The entire situation could have been avoided if Hammond just showed a bit of compassion and gratitude.

seems incredibly weird for them to even bring up possible age differences in the original film - sure the actors may have had a 20 yr age gap but are the ages the characters are supposed to be ever implicitly stated?

ironic that he seemed to spare one expense

i mean, Nedry was wrong. He didn’t do it out of sole moral or ethical position, he did it for money. Hammond could have done more and it may have prevented it. He did spare no expense. But if Nedry is that motivated by greed, there’s no reason to suspect that he wouldn’t do it even if he had been paid more. I think it’s fair to say Hammond inadvertently created a scenario where Nedry would be more likely to do something like this, but Nedry never comes off as an upstanding citizen writing a wrong of some sort. Dude just wanted money. Probably no amount would be enough.

I have no clue about the script, but it is not specified at all in the movie how old they’re supposed to be.

Jurassic World was on last night and they had a special interview with the whole cast of the new one between various commercial breaks, and i guess i'll spoiler tag it, but they said that the original 3 and the new cast don't meet up until later in the movie, the groups are apparently on different story arcs that eventually bring them together, they said one of the first scenes of them all together was the scene in the trailers where Grant and Owen both say "nobody move" at the same time.

I'm lookin' forward to it. I would really love to see a return of Lex and Tim, even in a small scene, but I do not anticipate it.

Anybody have this at their theater and know which two movies they’re playing? Is it 2 and 3 or 1 and 2?
