surprised victoria isn't getting more love. i can't count the number of times i've screamed my lungs out to that song driving in the car. i guess that just speaks to how you can't pick 3 from the best album ever.

 

I know mixtapes aren’t really a thing anymore, but I made a 15-20 song Spotify playlist in 2016 that had “Do You Really Want To Not Get Better?” flow into Touché Amore’s New Halloween, and I think it’s the greatest mixtape sequencing I’ve ever done, and still have a hard time not listening like that whenever I hear either song, haha

Cool little Frightened Rabbit reference on "Dance with Me" - really digging this new one on my first few listens.

Really got me feeling some shit with Dance With Me. Might be my favorite song by them already.

 

Late on the “best of@ thing but i like my JM when they are faster it turns out. Picking the top songs on S/T and NHA was BRUTAL.

Souvenir riff won't leave my head

 

Might be old info but listened to that BV interview and it cracks me up he works / owns a bar called The Sardine. Very on brand.

 

this is it.

 

hows everyone feeling a week in? it's probably toward the bottom of their discog for me. i just dont feel like it really has a strong first half outside of reason to believe. really wish they did something less straightforward with the souvenir cover and i end up skipping you're not famous anymore on most listens.

however, don't try through secret sisters is banger after banger vintage joyce so i'm happy we still got that.

 

listening for the first time and the you're not famous anymore verses vocal melody reminds me of my vagina by nofx although it might be another nofx song. the vocal melody for the dance with me verses sounds like 1985 by bowling for soup. the instrumental intro to constant headache sounds like yellow by coldplay and after asking them on twitter if it was intentional, they said that the constant headache demo was titled "coldplay song" or something. this band fucks with my brain.

 

I still love it.

 

I can’t imagine skipping a song on a 17 minute album.
