Saw this tonight and loved it. Really don’t understand how someone could think this was a bad film, but it is what it is. This was great.

I mean I don’t care if people don’t like the movie but a lot of these takes and conversation around it are p bad. Basically twitter did what twitter do.

Saying it’s a bad movie is just flat out incorrect. The acting, the cinematography, soundtrack, design all incredible... even if you didn’t like the narrative.

Every opinion about art is subjective. Nobody is right or wrong because that’s impossible.

Yeah but then people in this thread are saying the dumbest shit about Deadpool and getting a bunch of likes so

Look, if in the entire history of the medium there ever was a film that is objectively and unimpeachably good, it is without a doubt Joker 2019.

I mean, I don’t think Deadpool is funny or good but I’m not gonna tell someone they’re objectively wrong for liking it, haha

Haha I agree. I think at most both movies are fine but the comments above that got a bunch of likes are cringier than either movie

I think there is objective good and bad. Even in art. But I also don’t think that Joker is worth expending any more energy thinking or talking about. Grimacing fart of a movie.

I didn't like this. I was into it during the first part, especially the stand up scenes which were touching in their awkwardness. Once Arthur adopts the Joker persona at the talk show (that monologue... ugh) for the first time, it all goes downhill from here and I was pretty much eye-rolling until the credits. I've seen it with a friend who basically reacted to it in a "finally a mainstream movie that is intelligent and with a deep message" way, but I didn't pick up anything resembling of the latter? It seems to come close to actually saying something about anti capitalism, the stigma of mental illness, and loneliness, but it just glosses over all of these themes, and opts for shock value instead. So many missed opportunities.

If someone likes the movie, fine, but it’s hilarious when people say shit like this in 2019 and about this movie in particular.

I think he adopts the persona much earlier than that... How does it gloss over those themes? I think it fleshes them out pretty well. Especially mental illness. Shock value? No, I don't think so. The Joker is an extremely gritty, harsh, violent character. Nothing to be shocked over. I don't see how the actions could be considered fodder for shock value.

    This is a bad take.

The Joker is not an antihero and he was never meant to be.
