reviews seem pretty positive so far. Robbie Collin has a nice review up that deals with squaring his admiration of the film with the possible way the themes will be used negatively

 

Read some twitter reactions, and they almost seem too positive? Hard to fully trust festival hype, but I'm really hoping this is great.

 

you can tell from the trailer that Joaquin's performance is gonna be great, I mean he's always great

 

If these idiots try to co-opt Matrix, Fight Club, and V For Vendetta — they’ll definitely do it for this.

 

I am very curious to see this for two main reasons:

1) I still kinda can't believe it is a movie that happened.

2) Although I wouldn't call myself a fan of his movies, Todd Phillips has always struck me as someone who could have been an interesting filmmaker but who found success - moderate at first with his first few comedies, and then astronomical with The Hangover and it's sequels - and was comfortable after that mostly just churning out the same type of comedies repeatedly and making a lot of money doing it.

Its at an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes with 22 early reviews in. Probably will settle in somewhere in the 60s by the time it comes out, I’d guess.

 

if this gets a 69% on Rotten Tomatoes that would be nice
