    it happens a lot

  2. I don't know what digital distribution they use, but I can speak from experience with DistroKid that Apple Music is very sensitive. What may have happened is the band got the songs uploaded and OK'd by all the streaming services, but then they may have made some changes, re-uploaded it all, and then Apple Music said "No wait! Those have already been uploaded! What the hell are you doing?!" So now they're probably having to work with Apple Music directly to get those files back on there.

That's just my guess, since I had something similar happen recently. They get mad if the same audio files/metadata were already uploaded once.

I have a new found love for "Ten" because of the Phoenix Sessions.

Listened to the Phoenix Sessions of Futures today. Interesting how something like that can pull out a track you're a little less enthused with (or, as "less enthused" as one can get with one of their five favorite albums of all time) and give it a whole new shine. In this case, I'm talking about "Drugs or Me."

Futures is amazing. Love having a live version of it, but the album version sounds bigger and fuller to me.

Now Clarity….this live version RULES. I prefer this over the album version…a lot.

the studio version is the best thing the band - and emo as a whole - has ever released though

Yeah there just seems to be so much more raw emotion on the studio versions, which isn't necessarily what you'd expect. Either way, I'm glad to have these, but don't see myself going to listen to these sessions first rather than the studio versions.

The big riff of Futures is the weakest part of the Phoenix Sessions. The rest is just excellent. I've found myself checking mentally back in a few times and being like "right, this is not the version I've heard 1,000,000 times"

What I’m learning this week is that other people are far more willing than I am to proclaim a new version of something they’ve been listening to and loving for years as “better” than the original.

The studio version of Clarity is obviously the better version (it's the greatest album ever recorded, after all) but the Phoenix Sessions version is undeniably incredible. One of the best live performance recordings I've ever heard, easily.

    forbidden chalice.

Studio Futures and Studio Clarity have big shoes to fill. These Phoenix Sessions are good, but they are not those albums that I have been ingrained in my mind down to the faintest frequency. There's no need to compare the sessions with the originals (in a way that measures one above another); there's a lot to enjoy from both, especially from the perspective of hearing the changes between the versions, whether it their confidence live or literal music changes.

I do have to say though, I miss the haunting backing vocals in Your New Aesthetic's second verse. Absolutely makes the song for me.

Yeah, the live versions are great! But Clarity and Futures are pretty much perfect albums.
