What's the appeal to Clarity for most of you? I don't honestly go back to it that often either, although I constantly forget about both Lucky Denver Mint and For Me, This is Heaven - both of those are fantastic. I find the production complete shit on that album though, and too many of the songs gel together into ideas that seemed better expanded upon on future albums.

The incredible songwriting. The honest, gut-wrenching at times lyrics.

Yah that's every JEW album though, without the shit production

    But fair enough

I actually like the production of Clarity. It has an interesting vibe that the rest of the albums don't

Yeah, production of Clarity is great. Rawer and rougher does not equal "shit."

  6. Aregala

I love Jim's vocals on every album but there's something about the urgency he gives all across Clarity that will always be really special for me.

I think he (and the band) really just WENT for it on that album, not knowing if they would have another shot, and it really shows.

Mmmmm yeah but rawer and rougher doesn't necessitate half the drums sounding like they were recorded inside a tin can. That equals shit.

That's valid about going for it though. I also became a fan with Bleed American so Clarity holds no sentimental value for me.

I love Clarity, but I don't connect with it nearly as much as any of the 6 albums that follow it, even Damage.

I'm probably in the minority here but Clarity, while I like most of the songs on it, I just have a hard time getting into compared to other Jimmy albums. It's probably toward the bottom of their discography for me.

Same here. Fell in love with the title track and Heaven back in the day though.

I was first introduced to Jimmy Eat World with the Bleed American album so maybe that had something to do with why I don't hold Clarity in higher regard too.

I got into JEW during Bleed American and I still think Clarity is unbelievably good.

Surprised Goodbye is losing. I was under the impression that was a prime time JEW track.

I got into JEW last year and Clarity is still probably a top 3 album of theirs for me.

It's an unfortunate match-up. Sky Harbour would win against a lot of the other picks, but Denver Mint is such a perfect song.
