Part of why I love Futures is what they achieved sonically with the album. There were sounds and stylistic choices that a lot of bands in their realm were too afraid to experiment with.

 

I think it's kinda funny how back in the day, Clarity was the most highly regarded record while there was a growing vocal minority that thought Futures was the best. Now Futures is the highly regarded record and there's a growing vocal minority that thinks Chase This Light is the best.

 

I've noticed this as well. Definitely remember Clarity being the consensus favorite when I was championing Futures.

 

yeah, back when ctl came out, you would get slapped if you suggested it was the bands' best album. now it seems a lot more people are having that opinion. it's so fucking good.

all of their albums seem to get better with age. none of them feel cheesy or out of place when you listen to them. i don't think a lot of bands have that.

 

Eh, nothing on CTL comes close to topping 23, Polaris, and Kill alone. There are some great songs on CTL, but it just isn't a fair fight haha

 

Dizzy tops 2/3 of those for me.

 

"Dizzy" is better than all of those songs, haha.

Dizzy is the only competition. It just can't carry the entire album haha like I said, it's not a fair fight.

i'm not trying to argue with you. the two albums are equals in my book and futures is a top 10 of all time for me. haha. just gotta stand up for ctl

 

I almost agree. Polaris, 23, Dizzy and Invented are my top 4 JEW songs. But yeah, Futures is my favorite record.

Yeah CTL has a lot of incredible songs, about as many as Futures and Clarity.

I still think Clarity is their best and it's my personal favorite, but Futures is a close second. Chase This Light is definitely pushing third and has been for a long time. Bleed American better watch its back.

 

It's pretty good. While I can't put it in my top 4, that speaks to how great those 4 are more than how "bad" CTL is. It has some very stiff competition, but that's not its fault haha listen to it!

 

Is Invented your least favorite of the Clarity-Damage run? I cant remember I'm sure you probably said somewhere in this thread but thats a lot of pages to surf through. Just curious

 

Haven't listened to either of the new songs yet, but all the hype in the two JEW threads made me want to throw on some JEW for the first time in a while... revisiting Bleed American and then Futures currently.

 

Chase This Light might be my second favorite now. I listen to it more than Clarity and Bleed American, and just about as much as I do Futures. Plus, as someone else said, CTL is stacked. There's like 7-8 great songs on there.

 

Yep. And as I said earlier, it's not bad by any means. Just doesn't hit me at all.

 

Yeah I gotcha, I'm about the same as far as it being my least favorite of the big 6 but it's still a great album to me

 

My least favorite of their post-Static material would have to be Damage, but even that is a really good album so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
