    all we have is time

I would argue that "Please Say No" is the epitome of a song like that.. so well written IMO.

"Appreciation" and "No, Never" were always my favorites on Damage. I also love "Please Say No" and "Lean" a lot.

Yeah, I can mostly agree with that, but for some reason it doesn't hit me as hard.

So you mainly find that the songs on Damage aren't as well written?

So jealous of this person's collection:

I have a singed test pressing of Damage, but that's probably the only rarity I own. A signed setlist for their Futures 10 Year Annivesary tour and a signed copy of Futures is nice to have, too.

Anyone else have any cool JEW mementos and/or stories?

    WOW. That collection!!

I caught a guitar pick from Tom when I saw them in 2011. The crowd was pretty tame, and a little bit older of a crowd than I was used to for shows at the time (I think I was like 16)... I was going nuts, and probably stuck out like a sore thumb because of it. During the encore I was going bonkers and Tom was looking at me and smiling (borderline laughing haha), then he threw me a guitar pick and I totally missed it, so threw me guitar picks until I caught one lol. I still have it to this day.

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

i play guitar with the jim adkins signature fender telecaster (JA-90) that i bought, the jim adkins signature pick that he threw to me at a gig, and the jim adkins signature guitar strap that my girlfriend had custom made for me so its not official but shhh it goes nicely with my other gear.

in terms of collectables i dont have anything rare, just all their albums on CD twice, some CD and vinyl singles, and a signed poster.

I saw JEW for my first time back in summer 2013 on their first tour for Damage. The setlist remained pretty much the same throughout the tour, but, a couple days before my date, they added 23 into their encore set. I tweeted at the band saying something like "This is my first time seeing you guys and 23 is my fav, could you please keep it in?" That night, after they performed Chase This Light in their encore, I saw Jim grab his guitar that he plays for a lot, if not all, of the Futures songs and he went up to the mic and said "This next song is a request." I was standing front and center with one of my best friends and other JEW fans we hit it off with and we all started freaking out because I'm pretty sure Jim meant my request. But then some people further back got into a fight and Jim stopped to address it and started the song over.

This band is beginning to climb my list of favorites at rapid speed. I feel quite fortunate to be getting into them in a bigger way just in time for a new record.

So I (like everyone else) have been going back through JEW's catalogue a lot recently, and I find myself going back to Chase This Light an awful lot. I don't know why, it's just really been resonating a lot with me lately. I think back to 2007 when it came out and how it was received, and I really think this one is the band's most underrated release. On Metacritic, it's the band's lowest-rated album at 66, and some of the negative reviews are pretty scathing. I remember 16-year-old me at the time being kind of swayed by those reviews and not going back to the album nearly enough, but over the years it has really come back in a big way for me. I think it's easily their best album post-Futures. I also think "Always Be" might be my favorite JEW single of all time.

    /Random ramble.
