This is probably be best way to go. I mean I wanna push Damage on you @Kevin360 but I'd stick with Kennedys guiding

That's the thing though - it's tough to say there is a bad way to go with JEW hah. That's just me and my selfish desire for everyone in the world to fall in love with Clarity.

No I support that. Clarity is incredible and really a must listen for anyone interested in this scene. I mean Clarity is probably my number one... So I support it. I just feel that if I can get someone to get into Damage before all the the rest they will appreciate it more!

I would go with Clarity next. Though you can't go wrong either way.

  5. Invented really does stand up better than I thought on my re-listen. I always new I liked it a lot, but I was never really sure how much. And the b-side "You and I" is great.

It's so weird to me how Invented got a lukewarm reaction at the time. Damage makes sense, but not Invented.

It makes even less sense how Invented is still near the bottom of most rankings

  8. CTL got a lukewarm reaction at the time too. That still is absurd to me as well. I think every one of their albums has actually gotten better with time. Like, I was kinda meh on Damage when it first game out, but then like 4 months later I rediscovered it and fell for it. It might still be my "least" favorite if I had to pick, but barely.

(I still think "Action Needs.." doesn't fit on Invented though. "Precision Auto" fits there better.)

It does not make sense for Damage.

Yeah, CTL is such a fucking perfect follow up to Futures, no idea why it wasn't universally loved when it came out.

I really don't mind "Action", it's not my favorite, but I never feel like I want to skip it or anything. Only part of that album that falters a bit in my opinion, is the one two punch of "Evidence" and "Higher Devotion".

Don't get me wrong, I really like Damage, but for that one I understand why some fans of the band aren't huge on it. It's definitely a lot different. Invented has sooo many "classic" sounding JEW songs.

i didnt even know CTL existed until several, several months after it came out. very little hype behind that record, but i remember immediately falling in love and being like "fuck how did i miss this?"

Like, when "Heart Is..." begins, how does anyone just not fucking love that? Those handclaps. Goddamn.

ive said it like five times in this thread and i'll say it again, "heart is hard to find" is their best song

it's the best song on Invented, and probably really only behind "23", "Kill", and "Dizzy" for me.

  17. I remember fighting for months about "Gotta Be Somebody's Blues" and how great it was. Haha, and stuff like "Let it Happen" and "Always Be" were "too poppy." I think it was that era of AP.net when people hated too poppy music. I was furious.

  18. Other song people didn't like at the time: "Drugs or Me." I remember a lot of people wanting another "Hear You Me" and feeling let down in that song. I disagreed. Haha.

"Here It Goes" is the catchiest song the band has ever written.

man i fought about "gotta be somebody's blues" soooooo much in the thread on AP hahaha that was always my favorite on the album besides "dizzy." for a while i was in the "let it happen is too poppy" camp but ive grown to fucking love that song too. "always be" was a great choice for a single, ive always seen it as the "work" of that album. "always be" might have been how i figured out the album existed now that i think of it.

i'd love to hear "gotta be somebody's blue" live

yeah not a fan of it at all lyrically but other than that it's a great song that fits well within the context of the record.

The chorus of "Always Be" is magical. Chase This Light was actually my jumping on point for JEW. then of course I back tracked my way into Futures, Clarity and Bleed American.
