I've been super into Damage and Futures lately, and I love both of the singles released so far. How did I manage to avoid JEW entirely growing up outside of The Middle??

"Pretty Grids" is probably my least favorite, but it's still a cool song.

I think that the last two songs on CTL could fit on IB probably, for anyone who 1) still wonders what the album sounds like 2) cares what songs I think sound along in this band's catalog

If I had to pick three, "It Matters," "Through," and "Pol Roger."

i pretty much know what every jimmy eat world album is gonna sound like before i hear it. its gonna sound like a jimmy eat world album while not sounding like any other jimmy eat world album. they're really good at that.

In fact, this may be the most Jimmy eat world sounding Jimmy eat world album

    all we have is time

Exactly my reaction upon learning this a few years ago haha. The whole "crimson and clover" part AND the "our house in the middle of the street.." part is Davey from The Promise Ring. Blew my mind once I really listened to it and realized it actually wasn't Jim

Hard to say, really, that's just the record I always end up coming back to that I feel summarizes the JEW sound.

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

I'm still pretty love/hate with this song. Verses are lovely; instrumentally it's lovely; pre-chorus is lovely; bridge is lovely; the general vibe is lovely. The chorus still feels lazy, especially how he repeats "Yeah who you are, what you need, baby". And the general lyrics in the chorus overall are so "easy". I do like the tone of it though, and I know Sure and Certain is also very basic and I love that. I'm still going into the album with a very open mind.

So now that I know Liz Phair sings on Work I hear her all over the track. Lower harmonies in in the chorus, on the "Come on would it really be so bad?" line, and maybe even the echo on "I won't fight for more".

This is absolutely blowing my mind right now. How did I never know this before

You Are Free is incredible. The "I see it clearly now" pre chorus with the ringing piano chords underneath is one of my favorite singular moments on the album

But honestly I agree with Zac this is a quintessential Jimmy album.

There's also a good bit more piano use on here which I really like. Guess it was true that Robin helped in the studio more on this album because pretty much every song has some sort of piano or keyboard arrangement

agreed haha, but stoked to hear how much people were loving it because I wasn't blown away by the first song released and it made me sad.

Get Right is my least favorite, it sticks out in the tracklist. Very much the "Pain" of the album. Still a good, sturdy rock song.

Sure & Certain is a bit more representative of the album I think.
