    what a waste of wood

Wonder if I can expect "Elephant" at an arena show.. Probably not :(

I won't be crushed. I'd just love to hear that song love. It's how I fell in love with his music.

I took a trip to Dayton (Huber Heights) to see him / them this past Sunday and it was a fantastic show. The venue is newer and the weather was perfect. I ended up with third row, right tickets for under face value so I was very, very happy about that.

I hadn't been to one of his / their shows before and I got to hear pretty much everything (Codeine / Elephant) I could've hoped to hear. All of the new songs work very well live and all of the older stuff just sounded perfect. I can't to see them again at the end of next month.

Don't think he's played it yet this tour I'm afraid

Edit: oops post above me says otherwise haha. But it's definitely not an "every night" type of song like "24 Frames" or "Cover Me Up" or "High Road" or "Codeine"

  5. Saw him the night before in Cincinnati and boy was it a fantastic show. Afterwards my girlfriend and I spent about ten minutes seriously considering getting an AirBNB in Cincy that night and blowing off her family gathering the next day to see him again in Dayton.

Sadly we chose the family weekend at the lake over more Isbell.

show highlights were Codeine, Last Of My Kind, then the string of Flying Over Water, Stockholm, and Cover Me Up after they played like 15 songs without playing anything off of Southeastern.

We got every song off his new album but Tupelo :(

  8. For those of y'all that can't catch him on this tour, here's about half of the show we've all been seeing, from the festival he played up in Wisconsin with Bob Dylan and others earlier this month:

Worth watching the last ten minutes for the "Whipping Post" cover, if nothing else!

I got to see him at this shows stop in Detroit. Wish he could've played longer but the whole day was amazing.

“I think all those trappings and all those romanticized ideas of writing are things that you learn very, very quickly belong in the world of the amateur,” he continues. “Things like inspiration, you know. All that is nonsense. If your job is to write, you write. And if you’re not too good at it, you either quit or you keep doing it till you get good at it.”

Revisited this for the first time in a couple weeks. White Man's World is definitely my least favorite, followed by Last Of My Kind/Chaos and Clothes. The rest I really like.

Southeastern is still my favorite for sure. SMTF and TNS I don't know that I can pick between the two for second place. They both have about the same amount of songs that (at least for me) aren't as good as the rest of his material.

  14. Just announced two shows in Louisville in December, hoping I can make the Friday night one if not both!

  21. Fuck me I wish I could got to that show. Makes sense; she's from Memphis and Jason is definitely hip to our little AP/Chorus scene more than most other musicians
