    Jackson Browne, at least.

  2. Don't get me wrong, I don't have the disdain for Browne that I do for the Eagles. Browne is an objectively great songwriter and I get why people like his work and why he has the place in "the canon" that he does. He just mostly puts me to sleep--but that's just me.

But the Eagles are just unadulterated trash water.

Something in the way she moves by James Taylor is one of my all time favorite love songs.

    .

The Eagles are kind of like Coldplay: a supremely average, derivative band that sold a lot of albums and thus draw significantly more heat from music aficionados than they probably otherwise would.

That's objectively speaking, though. Subjectively...I will sing every fucking word of the Hotel California album.

Tonight was great and it clicked why the Mountain Goats opening made sense, both are great songwriters

  11. So fucking excited for my show in a week. I'm seeing him and Sturgill two weeks apart from each other, will report back as to which alt-country golden boy is killing it more in the summer of 2017

Edit: And I'm seeing Margo Price open for My Morning Jacket in Nashville the week between those two shows, so I'll have an alt-country golden girl to compare them to as well haha

  20. After a month with this record, I feel confident saying that it's a great album that will probably stay my favorite from this year but that I will also probably never like more than SMTF, which I have such a strong emotional attachment to that he'll probably never put something out that I like more. Currently I'd say this album is tied with Southeastern and Here We Rest for my second-favorite.

But maybe that'll change after seeing these songs live tonight!!

    what a waste of wood

I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never like this more than SMTF or Southeastern. Having said that though, I haven't listened to anything but this and Crack-Up for the last 20+ days.

I'll never get over chaos and clothes though. It just sounds like it does not belong. No offense to those who love it but it just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Totally forgot he'll be in town tomorrow. It's a part of the Outlaw Music Fest but hopefully he plays for at least 45 minutes or so.
