when we were close is my favorite track off this, i've never quite gotten behind king of oklahoma as much

 

"When We Were Close," "Miles," and "Cast Iron Skillet" are my top 3. I'm not big on "King of Oklahoma," either. Feels like a story/character he's already explored before.

IMO, if this album has a "banger," it's "This Ain't It."

 

it has several but i agree king of oklahoma is definitionally not one lol, whether you like the song or not. save the world, when we were close, vestavia hills and this ain't it are all bangers though.

 

I was unaware the term banger has a strict definition. It’s almost like I can consider it a banger if I want to!

 

Not all good songs are bangers, it needs to bang

 

I conflate "banger" with a certain type of dopamine rush that I just don't personally get from crushingly sad songs about down-on-their-luck dudes trying to steal copper pipe from construction sites. You do you, though!

I do find it puzzling that that's the song from this album that seems to have gotten singled out. Honestly, my second least favorite after "Strawberry Woman." If we're going for crushingly sad story songs, I find "White Beretta" infinitely more interesting. (Also definitely not a "banger," for the record.)

 

Damn I love strawberry woman too lol. To be fair I would not consider it a banger though

 

yeah king of oklahoma isn't bottom 2 for me but strawberry woman is definitely bottom 1

 

It's just a litttttle boring. Also, way too early in the album. I've got a few issues with the track order here, and that being at track 3 is the biggest one.
