Eh, it kinda happened with the painting and the headless kid too.

Considering it was featured in the trailer I didn't mind it as I was expecting it

Mother shouldn't have much of an effect on IT's performance next week.

How is it not a horror film?

  8. Yeah, the headless kid sorta. That one I could understand cause the kid was essentially a zombie haha. But I can sorta see where you're coming from there.

The part where Stan had the flashlight in the sewer and the painting lady crept up on him actually scared the shit out of me. The way IT's mouth extended out of its face like a goblin shark to eat Stan's face fucked with me too

I honestly had no problems with the cgi.

These are also the parts that made me jump the most. But the opening is easily my favorite part of Pennywise in the entirety of the film.

Maybe a better thing to say would be it's not very good at the horror aspect, but fantastic at the narrative and emotional parts of the film.

The shot of Pennywise watching Mike getting beat up, while eating/waving that dismembered arm and laughing really disturbed me. Probably my favorite shot him

That and the first scene with George were the only two scenes that disturbed me. The rest reminded me of every other horror movie with bad cgi. After hearing everyone's praise, I kind of wish I didn't read the book. The book set my expectations way too high

I'm not good with directors, but I would've loved to see the guy who directed the evil dead remake to do a version of IT. That's the last movie I saw in the theater that creeped me out and IT deserves a director who will really bring it. Nothing about a cgi clown is scary. I am happy though that so many people are enjoying the film

People in here saying that the horror isn't as scary as they wanted it to be is actually great news for me, I fucking hate being scared for the most part but something about this movie makes me really want to see it. I even went and spoiled a few of the jump scares for myself through bad quality Youtube videos (particularly the projector scene which I'm honestly very glad I saw in advance, fuck what you guys think) and this seems like something I'll be able to handle lol

Yeah the horror is more psychological and it's more tense instead of outright jump scares. There's a couple of jump scares that caught me off guard but everything else was fine

I'm not really sure what your talking about. The movie was riddled with jump scares.

Oh no, I totally agree. I should've said that there were a lot of "attempts" at jump scares that ultimately fell flat.

I have pretty bad anxiety and absolutely hate jump scares and this movie was full of them.

Definitely, but the ones that it got right, they definitely got it right

    and a millions screams...

For some reason the scene I can't get out of my head is when Ben is in the library doing his research and as the music starts to peak it keeps cutting and the librarian keeps getting closer to him in the background with her head hanging down. Its subtle but incredibly creepy. Making you think she's going to pop up behind him as pennywise or something.

My favourite line from the film has to be: THEY'RE GAZEBOS!
