Nothing is quite as much an argument for the horseshoe theory as Russia, it's fascinating

well now dont forget China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Libya, DPRK.

 

I don't believe in the horseshoe theory, it's bullshit but Russia in Ukraine sure seems to be an exception. I can take my own country's communist party as an example. It's like they got a memo saying that they can't say Russia invading Ukraine is a bad thing.

 

i believe the political line held by most communist parties world wide is anti-nato, an end to us backing, an end to the war, and that Russia is not imperialist. they have came to this conclusion through their own analysis. no memo needed.

 

I agree that being anti-nato is a consistent position.

On a personal level I profoundly disagree with the idea that Russia, to the extent that Putin defines what Russia does, is not imperialist. Everything Putin has done demonstrates in my view an imperialist mindset (a land empire in this case). I'm not going to say whether Russia's national security was at stake here; the actions nevertheless are imo unjustifiable.

I think the standard bearers of modern day communism in general should cut the dead weights to their cause that are both Russia and China, but I also understand why they wouldn't out of a rhetorical standpoint. Past ties shouldn't weigh them down, but at least around here it's too late for them to break free. It would be seen as weakness. But that's a whole other discussion. Being against nato shouldn't be reason for not condemning Russia.
