Really fucking heartbroken about this one.

 

really bummed... he's been part of so many great songs, including my favorite, "That Thing You Do."

 

That thing you do is so flawless and iconic

 

I didn’t realize until today that he also produced Even If It Kills Me. So heartbreaking.

 

Fountains of Wayne was my favorite band in middle and high school. My username is derived from their name.

This is brutal.

 

Also Tinted Windows was a jam

 

Ugh. He wrote one of the songs that defined my junior high years. RIP.

 

He also wrote a song or two for “Josie and The Pussycats.” Guy was prolific. What a giant loss.

 

I didn’t listen to FOW growing up, but just got around to checking out a few of their songs (had only heard Stacy’s Mom before) and yeah they have some good shit. Also checked out Tinted Windows, and can totally hear the influence he had on MCS’ EIIKM. Listening to his other band Ivy atm and am really digging it as well. RIP

 

'Ain't No Sunshine' singer Bill Withers dies at 81

 

I’ve got into a lot of soul in the past couple of years and Bill was one of my favourites by far. This seriously sucks.

 

Same here, Still Bill is one of my favourites from the seventies.

wrote some of the best songs of all time, tough one to take

 

He’s one of those artists where you don’t realise you know so many of his songs until you sit down and listen to him. Sampled by many too.

I love how he just decided one day that he just didn’t want to make music anymore and just quit. He’d written so many classics that he realised he could live off them for the rest of his life. Didn’t even play live either bar a few special appearances. He did everything on his own terms. Legendary.

 

yeah even just being the source of No Diggity would make him the coolest person ever, lost two very underrated musicians this week

 

He’s was just a really cool guy.

 

Dude was a king and wrote some stone cold classics. RIP to a legend
