Alright, progress made. I don’t know why but I don’t really love El-P when I probably should. Just does nothing for me.

A few people in feel the same about El-P. You given his stuff with Company Flow a go?

Yeah and it’s all good stuff. I just don’t find myself returning to anything he raps on. Though I’m still grateful the man exists cause he’s helps artist I do love lol.

I like Company Flow, I like Killer Mike well enough, but RTJ does nothing for me

What I love about that thread top 10 is that only two of those were on my personal list and a lot of people were in that same situation. It says a lot about this thread, not to mention rap music.

The Aesop joints on THPS were solid. I just have such an averse reaction when I hear his name because of AP lol. Similar to Em, it was impossible to talk about mainstream, modern hip hop on AP back in the day without some schmuck coming in to say how much better Aesop Rock was.

RTJ I’ve heard every release from and oddly enough, I generally don’t like their beats. Get the appeal, try hard to like, but does not click.

Lol he is definitely the underground version of what Eminem is to mainstream rap in that way

One of my kids just asked me my top 5 and I have such a hard time putting it together. It constantly changes and I never feel good about it. Plus it's hard to explain why I'd put Earl in there just for one album, lol.

I actually do remember this, and despite being a huge fan, remember how dumb it was. Aesop is so good but also a really particular style and flow that does not work for so many.

    Prestigious Supporter

I like El-P as a producer, but not much as a rapper. R.A.P Music is one of my favorite hip hop albums of the 2010s.

I've always been into Killer Mike's solo stuff, dating back to Monster. But I don't know, I just never find myself going back to RTJ as much as everyone else seems to.

Suddenly we get so in sync. I personally find Earl’s newer stuff to be a fucking drag of a time, but loved OF and everything up to Doris.

Also, Killer Mike addressed my dog on Twitter this weekend, so bonus points :crylaugh:

Haha, wayyy out of sync. I meant Some Rap Songs is enough to put him in my top 5

It feels like a lot of people agreed on some early OF releases

my favorite recent Eminem memory was this video clowning on his verse on the Big Seaon album from 2017, it's amazingly accurate

Its weird because there's nothing about Run the Jewels I dislike, even saw them at a festival and it was fine. But I can't get into them, its like beige. Nothing wrong with them but nothing I can really care about either.

I haven't had an album in the genre hit me like that since it dropped. Manger on McNichols was close but still not on the same level
