People don’t talk about Buckwild beats enough

 

What? You think Eminem only sells to ignorant white people, and that he’s been irrelevant for 20 years? That’s just crazy to me. I don’t know how to even go about addressing that. I just disagree.

I don’t mind being called cringe for liking an artist that isn’t popular on here and it’s not gonna change my opinion. Won’t be the first or last. I didn’t even expect this to get so long winded. But I am surprised, and have to disagree with a lot of what I’m reading because this is the only pocket of the internet that I’ve seen call him irrelevant to the game with no good production for 20 years. I don’t find his delivery contrived or inauthentic, and in fact find that it’s a huge part of what separates him from his peers and made him stand out in the first place.

The mid-section of his career doesn’t do much for me, specifically the albums Encore-Recovery, save a few tracks. But since then he’s been extremely impressive to me. Meaningless lyrics? This shit goes so hard for me and was the best 2020 lyrics in rap:

This specifically to me feels like something that someone could use against the case you’re making lol

@Anthony_Soprano This was “our” aggregated top 10 last year, out of 79 albums submitted via our individual top 10 lists. This thread listens to a lot of (different) rap.

I’m personally kinda done with wordplay, but even if I weren’t this doesn’t seem like something I haven’t heard before tbh

 

I’m not leaving mad. Surprised, but not mad. But I will do you guys the solid and unsub cause looking at that list.. yeah, you guys will not really love my opinions/takes and vice versa. Just being honest with myself.

 

My favorite rap album last year was Brat by Nnamdi or Purple Moonlight Pages if that doesn't count. I never thought about favorite lyrics, but let me look up a couple..

You don’t have to do that. I think I speak for all of us when I say that different takes are welcome. Like I said, we have plenty of wildly different takes on the same things in this thread. If you want to talk about Hip Hop in good faith and find new (and old) stuff, this thread is for you.

 

I'm not sure if you've been active in this thread for awhile or just popping in, but please don't leave. Everyone here has very different tastes and we all bring different things to the discussion.

I’ve been subbed for a long time but yeah, mostly pop in and out. Lately DMX’s passing had this one showing up more at the top of my list so I’ve been paying more attention.

 

That is a very varied list, no two sound a like. What other hip hop do you listen to?

 

Ok so do y’all like stuff like Cannibal Ox and Aesop Rock too cause if not I’m gonna implode since I’m right now 0 for 2 on artists today haha.
