I do like the idea that people haven't always been like hey Eminem stop rapping about killing your wife, it's referenced in Slim Shady!

Been listening to Maxo Kream today and feel like he doesn't get the love he deserves. Punken and Brandon Banks are both great all the way through.

Unless it’s him doing his best Max Cavalera impression, I’m not interested.

Rod Wave is absolutely worth paying attention to. The best ear for melodies right now

24 years since he died. Mad. The most rap I listened to back then was Big Willie Style, but I remember seeing a tiny little article in my sisters Smash Hits magazine about his death. Not long after, I took up a little part time job as a gardener for a friend’s neighbour and he was a rap/RnB fan. He recorded Life After Death and Wu-Tang Forever onto some blank tapes for me. I guess that’s where my rap fandom started properly haha

I got my home movies digitized and one is of me and my cousins dancing to "Mo Money Mo Problems" on Christmas 97, so it's been that long since I liked him. I heard (most of) Ready to Die in 01 when I was trying to put Big Poppa onto one of my Mix CDs after Hardball came out.

I did last night. It was solid. Probably shoulda been a miniseries, it ended very quickly and they sped through a lot

I remember I watched the music video he released when he got out of jail years ago and he rapped in that song.

What are some good releases from this year? I’ve been listening to Madlib and R.A.P. Ferreira but that’s about it.

YUNGMORPHEUS has put of a couple of projects. Chester Watson has put out one too. A couple of joint efforts from Your Old Droog & Tha God Fahim too. New Tree too. No big releases so far though.

I really think Islah is the best place to start if you aren't at all familiar with him, but OTG II is a decent tape too.
