I’ve been doing a Danny Brown discography dive. I’ve only heard a few songs here and there. YouTube Music doesn’t have Old, so I’ll have to get it from somewhere else when I get to it. Awesome stuff so far.

It's been said a lot but I really think Atrocity Exhibition is one of the best albums of the decade. XXX is amazing too

You’re right. There are also some songs from the later 00s that aren’t on Spotify that should be on there, like:

Also the One Blood Remix, which Ja killed.

Good to see FF get the recognition they deserve. Fingers crossed this will turn more people on to them. Along with Tribe, Digable Planets and Guru, these guys are jazz rap pioneers.

Speaking of Ja Rule, I recently looked up that song he and Ashanti made for that Hamilton mixtape (Helpless, a really good song actually) on YouTube and the comments made me feel old as fuck. Especially this one, which is a response to one of the kids in the comments saying that Ja Rule has a weird voice:

I guess it's cool that they're doing these reviews, but I still don't trust them or take them seriously whenever they as an institution tackle hip hop

True, but they got Cadence Weapon to write this review and he's certainly someone who knows his alternative hip hop.

a fun fact, if you didn't know, but when Lin Manuel Miranda was writing Hamilton, Helpless was actually directly inspired by Ja Rule and Ashanti's collabs that he grew up with. When he put together the mixtape, getting modern artists to cover songs from the soundtrack, he reached out to both of the directly and explained that they were the inspiration for the song, and they both immediately came on board for it.

Yo I really don't know where the fuck I was during the initial Jay Electronica hype lol. I've always known the name and the Exhibit tracks (I think) were on my iPod and I liked them, but the hype around him has always baffled me. I legitimately don't think I've ever had a convo with a person in real life about him. I have literally no expectations for Act II, so hopefully I like it

His album from this year was ok, but his anti-Semitic tweets really soured me on him.
