It was cool at first but I have no need for it now that he has more, better material,

  2. EARL tape is the pinnacle of everything I hate about that era of Odd Future. His flow is nice and he was super talented even back then, but yeah the content is awful.

Honestly the lyrical content on EARL is obviously horrific, but that flow was so good. Idk why that part stopped

    It didn't...

  8. EARL would be my fav of his if it wasn't fucking horrible. An unfortunate amount of early teen angst attached to that one for me

Although early Odd Future could be hard to listen to, their early material had a certain thing that they lost, which makes them less interesting to me even though they are better now.

anyone see a$ap ferg live and how was the experience?

he's coming to town with rob $tone and Playboi Carti. I want to go to see his Trap Lord stuff but also because I want to support more hip hop shows here.

Earl didn't lose anything imo besides his obnoxious shock rap tactics. The rest lost their spark sure but not earl

idk if everyone else lost their spark. frank ocean, domo genesis, and casey veggies were all odd future members and their stuff is nice af

Frank always felt separate from the group, don't think Casey was ever actually OF just an affiliate, and Domo is exceedingly average

Casey was in fact not a member. Neither was Vince. Domo, Hodgy, Tyler, Mike G, etc are all pretty bad. The only members still good/great are Frank, Earl and Syd/The Internet

Also, I'm finally listening to this Vic Mensa album, and it's kinda puzzling. Half of it is some of the best stuff I've heard all year, and the other half is...not good

Casey Veggies actually was a member for their very first tape but left after that

Also that Kami song is fucking awesome. It's crazy how consistently talented all of the members of Savemoney are

First time through K.M.D.'s Mr. Hood, and goddamn, this thing is way ahead of its time. Such groovy production; in addition to really well-executed syncopation and dissonance, it all feels kind of muted in the best way, a lot boom-bappier than most of the modern hip-hop I come across (though I think this may be more a product of the 90's and less their personal sound).

Lyrically, a shit ton to dig into (unsurprising after finding out this was DOOM's first group; that knowledge is definitely gonna get me trying again to dive into his discog): unfliching, angry, aware, intelligent when they want to be, equally carefree and funny as hell when they want to be, usually a bit of both. Back half especially wowed me; the flows seemed especially lived-in, and to go from "Bananapeel Blues" to "Nitty Gritty" without a batted eye is an impressive feat. Hell of a record.

I also took in OB4CL earlier today, and that didn't click too much with me. Still some really cool flows and it made me realize I think I quite like Method Man, but nothing is going to push me back to it quickly.

Cuban Links is great. Maybe give it another shot?
