Fucking devastating. Injury Reserve was/is one of the most exciting up and coming rap groups right now and he, along with the rest of them, seemed like such a genuinely great dude. He had a wife and four kids too. So sad on so many levels

I think Ty$ has one of the better track records among his peers. Incredible bunch of singles (Saved, Paranoid, Blase), weird deep cuts like "Drop that Kitty," really strong features (Mac Miller's "Cinderella," Jeremih's "Impatient," Kehlani's "Nights Like This," "Psycho," bunch of stuff with YG). And then he's working with guys like Thundercat and serpentwithfeet lately. His own projects aren't especially strong, though a lot of Free TC is quite good, but song for song I think he's had a solid and lengthy run.

 

Ty is always a great feature, I also have liked his last several projects, thought Beach House 3 was really good if not a little bit long. Droptop In The Rain is an incredible song

I saw this Bow Wow song on YouTube I had forgotten about and I’m not ashamed to say that Bow Wow had a little run of bangers between like 05 and 09

 

So, I was looking at the non forum parts of the site and it's all very... monochromatic. The reviews section, which looks to be updated semi regularly, has one rap review, but it's an Eminem retrospective review. Unless there are more that I can't see beyond the bottom of the page...? But even so, a years worth of reviews and not much POC/BAME representation on there. If any? I'm not familiar with a lot of them, so I can't say for sure. But still.

And there was nothing recognising Groggs passing yesterday either, which was disappointing.

We've got the classic album threads, which are awesome and getting more attention than I thought they would. But is there anything else we can do?

 

In all honesty, this site is definitely lacking the front page community/staff review aspect that AP had. I rarely, if ever, check out anything in the "News" section/reviews. I didn't even know there was one rap review, let alone any. The major players (and the shitty ones lol) in terms of hip hop writing have left the site over time. It sucks. It took forever to build up that community on AP and then it kinda just vanished on here. Obviously this thread is standing strong, but yeah.

The second quarantine started, DaBaby was complaining about the amount of money he would be missing out on due to the lack of shows. Makes sense why he’s okay with getting back at it too early.
