20 years old this weekend and just as fresh today. Madlib is the king of making timeless music.

True but you’d figure he’d learn something at some point.

I always looked up to him so I’m annoyed as fuck. Not to make it about me though, not at all.

I really need to peep that Navy Blue, I keep forgetting. That whole crew or w/e is probably the most exciting thing happening rn. I highly recommend everyone check the KeiyaA album. It’s like the r&b counterpart to the whole lo fi hip hop wave. MIKE coproduced a few on it.

Skimmed through this the other day and it’s definitely ticks the right boxes for me. Looking forward to giving it a proper listen.

The new one is probably his most "accessible" but imo his strongest albums are Warlord (for more intense/banger songs) and Stranger (for more atmospheric/ethereal/melodic songs). Now that I think about it Starz is like a perfect combo of the two sounds

  14. I don't love him or anything, but definitely recommend Stranger. This new one seems nice too

I made a separate thread for the Dua Saleh EP, but I'm gonna cross post about it here. Their music definitely transcends hip hop/is generally unclassifiable through single genre labels, but they do rap and some of their tracks would fit in here. One of the most exciting artists breaking out this year imo.

    and a non-EP cut

Hell ya. I haven't seen much talk about it (it got a BNM and that's about it) but it's one of my favourites of the year.

Need some 00's classic recs for this weeks classic thread lads as I was pretty much in an indie rap zone for the majority of it and Madvillain is all i'm coming up with haha. Thought we'd be better off with someone with a bit more of a name, though. I'm open to any suggestions.
