00s without Ja Rule, Nelly, Eminem and 50 is impossible and I don’t even like two of them

 

Finally hopping on the Griselda wave. Tana Talk 3 is sooo good.

 

My fave 00s album is Ronald Dregan lol

 

I can make a list of some of my favorite 00s albums soon if some people would like that

 

Deltron 3030 is my fave hip hop album of all time, but if people preferred Both Sides of the Brain, I wouldn't argue.

Blanking on the 00s is wild to me. Are y'all really that young?

 

Most of the 2000s was when I was in my "rap is crap" phase of life, so I missed out on a lot from that era because of that. It wasn't until maybe 2008 I started playing catch up

 

Outkast, Cannibal Ox, DOOM, Lupe, Lil Kim, Common, Missy... so much good rap in the 2000’s

 

I just don't like most 00s rap that I've heard. 90s + 10s >>>>>>>>> 00s

 

There was just so much shit going on during the 00s lol. So many essential albums in there. Rise of State Property/Beans/Free, Cam'ron/Diplomats, Ye, Blueprint, The Roots!!!, Common, Mos Def, Q Tip, Talib Lupe. And most of that is early 00s. Late 00s has the rise of Drake, Wayne, mixtapes popping off everywhere. Mannnn. Even pop rap was incredible.

 

The 00s were amazing. “Pop rap” especially was more sonically diverse.

 

An argument could be made it’s the best decade for rap.

 

Part of me wants to say yes but really the 90s were raps best decade so far in terms of the amount of classics

 

So many people posting in the Run The Jewels thread that I never see around these parts. Guess that’ll be the one on all the EOTY lists this year.

 

Yeah RTJ attract a lot of the "I don't like rap, but..." crowd lol

 

I was just about to post about it. Listening to it now and I’m absolutely blown the fuck away. Immediately one of my favorites this year.

I think, considering everything thats happening at the moment, that this is the best shout to start with.

 

I saw someone today call RTJ the best hip hop duo of all time

 

There's no doubt that El's production is hugely influenced by The Bomb Squad.

 

That’s just plain ridiculous, but it is a great album. Instead of slamming it, maybe rec’ing similar things to people in that thread is a better direction
