His last album sold real well, but it was generally viewed as a let down, right? I don't think he won't be huge this time next year, but wouldn't be surprised if he has peaked by now.

 

Remember when he threw a shitty diss at Chance but then was like nah just kiddin i don't know that dude

 

I've soured hard on Drake after last year. Still like his music but Views has like three good songs, and I mean he's never had a sterling silver personality but he's such a douchebag

 

Maybe. I just think it was about three years too late, and it somehow sounded a little forced maybe? Could be all in my head though, I haven't really listened to it since it came out. I might give it another go, maybe I have aged into it.

 

the meek beef really crystallized what i thought started to go wrong on IYRT for me

 

drake is always here in miami and there's always billboards for club events with drake but when he came for the summer sixteen i didnt see a single advertisement for it outside of the venue. it kind of left me with this impression that above being a musician he's a professional party favor. views sounding so phoned in definitely reinforces it for me

I thought the beef was funny at first, and Meek certainly didn't do himself any favors, but he (Drake) came out of that looking like shit not really addressing Meek's claims and going for LOL MEMES

 

How is this a diss

 

Personality aside Views was suuuuch a let down. I won't let that ruin my enjoyment of his previous records but I'm extremely surprised a record this bland has been doing so well commercially.

 

per the wordplay he's implying that he's worked hard whereas other rappers "leave it up to chance". Like I said, not a heavy diss but it was weird line

 

It's not really a diss towards Chance though, unless you think he's trying too hard to be subliminal

 

and it's kind of shitting on Chance's stage name

 

I don't think it is just thought of it as lazy wordplay/reference

 

lol i mean thats the opposite of subliminal thats why it weirds me out, he calls him by name, disses his stage name and says he doesnt know him

The chance line isn't a diss on chance like Kyle said it's just bad wordplay he's not shitting on chances name he's just trying to make a pun with it

 

Drake, although a capable pop artist, is corny and a vulture. Always was, always will be.
