Damn, I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since Guru passed.

 

Yeah this record is nuts. Definitely reminds me of JPEG but swapping the glitchy production for like jazz-punk fusion. Somehow even more experimental than I expected and all the better for it.

 

I'm late but that Boldy James/Alchemist album is fucking great

 

Alchemist has been on a tear so far this year. That and the Conway project are so good.

 

Revisiting You Only Live 2wice this morning and it really is an underrated addition to Freddie Gibbs' discog imo. 2017 was a great year for hip hop, so many albums I keep going back to

Was a fan of Smino, met him and loved him but then he said some disrespectful shit to my girlfriend on IG live and when I called him out on it he blocked me

Wish I was making this up but he locked his puppy outside on his deck while he showed off his shoe collection, my gf said a couple times he should check on the puppy and he was like "man shut the fuck up get the fuck out of here" then kicked her out. I messaged him saying I was a big fan and that I wanted to continue listening to his music but felt I couldn't after that disrespect and was hoping he would admit it was shitty, IG showed the messages as "seen" and then when I looked him up today I found out I was blocked lol. Heavily disappointing as he was one of my favorite artists and this mixtape has some good stuff although I won't be supporting in anyway so I am glad its on Soundcloud for my one listen

appreciate that, I was hoping he would at least show some sort of remorse but oh well. Doesn't really impact the memories I had of her and I listening to his last two albums but kind of in the situation where I just don't really want to listen moving forward..anyone have any recommendations of similar rap/rnb type crossover artists in a similar vein (Saba was the closest I found in recent memory to an artist in that style I really could get into a full project)

I mean to get more specific he called her by name, said “shut the fuck up, get the fuck out of here” so for me personally, having met him and then having it progress to this just kind of fucked him up for me. No denying he’s a very unique talented artist but I kind of thought he was a down to earth dude too. No hard feelings if anyone still listens and likes it ! Just too personal of an attack and my gf is the sweetest and loved him prior to it so it just crushed me
