I put in two R&B albums and one German rap album, because otherwise I would have had to shoehorn in some English-language rap albums that I liked when they came out, but kinda don't really care about at this point. If @username still would rather have me replace the albums I put in, I can.
    1. Common - Let Love
    2. Kehlani - While Wait (R&B)
    3. Little Brother - May The Lord Watch
    4. Paul Wall & Statik Selektah - Give Thanks
    5. Tua - Tua (German)
    6. Dave - Psychodrama
    7. Blu & Damu The Fudgemunk - Ground & Water
    8. Bun B & Statik Selektah - TrillStatik
    9. Gang Starr - One Of The Best Yet
    10. Mahalia - Love And Compromise (R&B)
    11. Action Bronson & Alchemist - Lamb Over Rice
    12. Anoyd & Statik Selektah - Yuck!
    13. Jim Jones & The Heatmakerz - El Capo
    14. Chance The Rapper - The Big Day
    15. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana
I hate ranking. Anyway, some really fucking good albums came out after all.

Damn this Common album is really fucking good. Wish I’d listened sooner, would definitely have made it onto my list.

This is the weirdest timing. Been listening to this on repeat this weekend alongside Circles by Post Malone and it made me really happy seeing how many talented young artists there are - and even happier to see Juuce coming out of Chicago close to where I’ve lived.

Really, really sad seeing all of these young deaths with many at them just beginning to creatively flourish and enter adulthood. I hope the music these artists create inspire another generation to build on what they’ve created - and take care of themselves along the way. Lots of great music being left here - selfishly disappointed it’s all I will get but mostly just sad another person with such talent is now gone.

Last year I was in a bowling alley because my college organized a bowling night there. It was weirdly dark and neon and at some point Lucid Dreams was blasting through the speakers and I got goosebumps. I’m a very jaded old head so that meant something.

    hey you lil piss baby

This one's getting to me. I was really into his first few singles when they popped up - hearing "All Girls Are the Same" a few months after Peep's passing was comforting in a way, hearing someone else doing something very similar in bridging emo and hip hop. I struggled with his solo stuff more as time went on, his synthesizing of those two genres also brought together the misogyny from both in a way that I found really troubling. But he was always super talented and I was usually really happy to hear him pop up in guest verses. His spot on Thug's new album is a highlight - both in Juice's discography and on the album. He sounds so hype, like he's trying to jump out of the speaker.
