I dunno if this is up the alley of ya'll, but I am really really vibing with Kah-Lo lately. Honestly she reminds me of Azalea Banks but way more streamlined and (hopefully) less inclined. She released a collaborative album with Riton, a DJ, a few weeks ago. I haven't listened to it all yet, but I'm into everything I have heard.

Now THIS is real hip hop

 

I’m actually sure what to think of this yet but it did stand out to me

 

Visually that was sick and the beat was solid but lost so much energy on the vocals. Not sure if I’d get used to it or what.

 

Skinnyblackboy released his album today I think, the website that posted about it said that it mixes “trap, house and UK influences”. I’m probably going to check it out soon. The vocals are a big part of what makes this stand out to me but I’m not sure if I’m actually into it or not, haha. They remind me a little of the vocals of the rapper from the once big UK trip hop group Faithless. Maybe there’s some variety on the album.

 

Btw my favorite West Coast rap song of the year is still that Nipsey x YG song from early this year

 

I always forget about that Nipsey album I don't know why

 

I liked but was kind of over it fast. That song though

 

That and the one with Kendrick where my favourites

 

I was thinking about going to this but already have tickets for another show the same night.

 

Mick Jenkins new album’s production is actually jazzier and less straightforward, less hooks too- its honestly pretty understated as the focus is entirely on his lyrical delivery and imo it really works. Great album, seems like his most confident work thus far.
