hearing AI Pac rap about the Budden podcast on that Drake track is one of the worst things I've ever subjected my ears to. absolutely horrifying

  16. Y'all have a publication or list you trust more than others for a general ranking of the Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time? Trying to cover some blind spots this week

I’ve never seen a list I’ve agreed with fully, but I think you’d be best of trying to find different, somewhat longer lists that focus on different decades and go from there

Like this one: Complex's 90 Best Rap Albums of the 90's - Acclaimed Music Forums

Lists that are of everything all at once always seem to suffer from recency bias and tend to forget everything but the most obvious (but not necessarily best) shit from the past

been trying to expand my palette a bit. I've been listening to some of the older hip-hop records featured as VMP options just bc I haven't ever listened to some of them.

this Method Man record is dope. dark, moody, a bit more interesting than the early Wu-Tang albums I've heard but those are admittedly a blind spot. crazy now that I think about it how I haven't given them more attention. I've never been super into Wu-Tang but this album might have converted me if there's other stuff out there like this

this album, also from '94, is fantastic. very jazzy, laid-back, underground vibes.

and this one from 2002 is real fun, basically Outkast-lite. six rapper group from Kentucky, apparently went platinum. idk how I've never heard of these guys lol.

Yeah, I was a big fan of the first two Nappy Roots albums. I remember they played at my college when Wooden Leather was released. Blowin Trees was my JAM.

    Nappy Roots rules.

Tical is also a classic. Would probably round out my top 3 solo Wu records along with Supreme Clientele and Cuban Linx

definitely get Blackout! next if you like Tical. comfortably Meth's best work outside of Wu imo
