He only co produced two tracks on that album

He ghost wrote and ghost produced quite a bit on it. He was around for a big chunk of the recording.

I'm not gonna talk about Kanye's music but you're making me want to, lol

If he did his music would’ve been better

Let’s talk about how Paul Wall has maybe the best verse on the album and we can leave it at that

Honestly sad to see people in here engaging with Kanye’s work, even pre-TLOP, and praising it/debating about it—it’s more telling on yourself than anything. Not worth time and energy, you’ve lost my respect.

  10. Not seeing a lot of praise, feels like the conversation was natural considering he had a hand in Utopia and Scott had a hand in Yeezus. I don't see bringing up the blatant similarities as "telling on yourself"

Wait, Kanye was actually involved with the creation of Utopia?

  12. I mean, the album was in production for a long time so who knows when, but yes, he is a credited writer and producer. Two of the songs were Kanye demos.

  13. It's very silly to me to pretend like we never heard those albums or that they never held cultural significance when the influence is still (obviously) felt in mainstream hip-hop. We can observe that without saying anything good about the guy

To be fair, none of the three of us actually did anything you're saying

I see that now, and my apologies for being quick to jump to that conclusion. It’s not really happening here as it is on Twitter. It honestly just bothers me even when people look back fondly at Kanye’s career. IMO it sucks that Travis kept the songs with those credits on this album. I understand the widespread influence of his work, but just because of the hurt he’s caused—his proliferation of antisemitism, denial of slavery/history rewriting, and platforming of rightwing ideologies—I’d like to pretend his legacy is null and voided, if I’m perfectly honest.

I’m glad we resolved it but I also think we, or at least those of us who have been regulars here (often for years), should be able to give each other the benefit of the doubt sometimes

It's also impossible to ignore how much (as someone else here put it) Travis is "cosplaying" as Kanye with this album/movie

I agree with giving others the benefit of the doubt here, and that’s why I’m sorry I posted that comment. I’ve been here for awhile as well and I don’t think I usually jump on people, but it’s a touchy subject and I was projecting a bit.

I have seen some Paul Wall love lately and it makes me happy because honestly he was always so underrated

A legend in this city. The early tape with him and Chamillionaire is the best
