me and a coworker were talking about how excited we are for de la soul discography to drop on streaming im spending the whole weekend listening to it and giving my thoughts

I made it through the first 15 seconds of the first couple of tracks and less of the last track.

Its the type of music that just makes me feel old haha

 

I’m looking forward to seeing if I can notice the changes. Although they said it’ll be very hard to tell where the changes are, so I’ll be listening extra carefully haha

this album is a fucking experience damn. glad I didn't listen to any of the singles beforehand. feels like the point in time where he stops being thought of as a "rapper" and becomes an "artist"

 

oh yeah? I always listen to his stuff but that has me more intrigued than usual. I saw some of his set at Coachella last year and it was pretty terrible haha, but that's a whole other conversation

 

it's really wild stuff, doesn't really sound like anything he's done before except maybe "Missing". it's produced by Dan Carey who's basically the support pillar of the UK post-punk scenes, and it has features from Fontaines D.C. and a few other big names in that scene

not even sure how to describe it really, the first song alone is fucking insane, it's kinda closer to that last Injury Reserve album than anything hip-hop. but it's fantastic
