Yeah! I am one of our managers though, i mostly manage our companies jobs and do estimates and quotes and sheit.

Oh. Ooooooh. So I want you to know it’s never too late. And you will not regret listening to any Bon Iver album, just start with For Emma and work your way forward.

oh sick, definitely sounds like things are going well for ya. how's the band??

will do, I definitely already have the first two downloaded so it'll happen any day now. might do it on the drive to work tomorrow, we'll see. I've heard songs here and there, and I heard some from the most recent one with all the emoji titles and whatnot and they were kinda weird but I dug it

How about you, how are things going for you?

As for my band... meh, pretty slow honestly. But I’ve been working on a project that I’m reeeeally excited about that I think is better than my bands stuff anyway, so that’s been getting most of my focus.

Yeah 22, A Million has a lot of really weird stuff, I remember when it first came out i liked it but thought it was really weird. Now that I’m so familiar with it, I don’t find it weird, just suuuper creative and genius honestly lol. I think For Emma and BI,BI are better starting places despite me loving all of them fairly evenly

s'alright, school's done for the summer but I am supposed to be revising my research paper (a sociolinguistic study using Phil Elverum's work as a case study) to try and get it published in the undergrad research journal in the fall. no major life updates though, just working through the summer.

solo thing? how would you describe it? I assume the band is just going slow cause of life stuff? gotta be hard to get a bunch of different people's schedules to align.

Phoebe Bridgers' love for BI has really reinvigorated my interest in getting into him haha

Holy tell me more about your paper and the Phil Elverum stuff. I’d obviously be very interested haha. Which albums are you focusing on?

Yeah, solo thing. At first it was gonna be this little thing, but then I started recording stuff and writing and it’s kind of grown. I’m aiming for November. And yeah I dno, people in my band are getting married and stuff and it’s just hard to get together all the time.

    Lol her twitter banner :heart:333

so the study is about the division of high and low art (art made for or by "the higher class" that is seen as more valid or worthy of study vs like, essentially pop art) and how such divisions are arbitrary when they're both constantly interacting with and influencing each other. so in using Phil as a case study I did a textual analysis of his lyrics and related them to transcendentalist poetry, primarily Walt Whitman, and tried to make a case for Phil carrying on that tradition and in essence crossing that divide (since the Everyman quality of indie/folk music naturally puts it at a great spot to study this). I tried to study things that'd span his whole career so I did the first song off the Glow pt. 2, the first off A Crow Looked At Me, and I wanna say either Tin Tin in Tibet or Distortion off of Now Only? and related those to transcendentalist ideas as well as traditional poetry meter (or the lack of it in the case of Real Death). since it's sociolinguistic I also examine the underlying class based implications behind designations like high and low art and how Phil subverts those ideas.

absolutely tag me in or dm me or whatever when you get your solo project done, definitely looking forward to it. does it have a name?
