For some reason I thought she was seeing herself in the trailer so I didn’t expect it to be him at all.

 

honestly even right up to that scene as it was playing out, i wasn't sure if it'd be real or not, considering all the rest of the mind fucks

 

As soon as he saw what was up in the attic I thought "oh no booboo you gotta go now" lmao

 

One of the few great things about having an awful memory is that I completely forgot that scene in the trailer, so I was shocked.

“More than your mother’s headless corpse in the attic?”

I absolutely lost it.

 

so i understand that Peter was in some kind of shock after the accident, but it's still incredibly bizarre to me that he just...drove home and went to bed and left his sister's decapitated body in the car for his mom to find.

 

I think he suffered a true break from reality. When she goes out there he’s still just staring blankly like his body is trying to protect him from acknowledging what happened.

btw this is one of toni collette's best performances, right up there with the hours

 

I finally went back to my normal my routine last night and I was actually conscious of it happening. Although that’s probably only going to last until I see it again.

 

it's so wild, i haven't had a movie do a number on this like me since i was a child. i just keep waking up every other hour in a panic! i'm not even having nightmares anymore, i just know i wake up and am CERTAIN something bad is about to happen.

 

i'm liking this but in a supportive way. it's really kinda...idk..neat? sorta cool? that it's having this effect on people. mmm, art

 

It's weird because I usually do have that type of reaction when watching certain movies (I'm looking at you The Exorcist) but for some reason I'm not with this.

 

my dreams are always weird, tbh. last night people wanted me to drop something down a hole and i looked down the hole and said "fuck no get away from this hole" someone tell me what that means. also there was a big yellow flashlight in the hole, like the one toni collette uses when she first goes in the attic

 

I ain't too proud to admit that I have a stuffed Yoshi I keep right by me just in case but I've been pretty alright. It's really fun to think about the movie though.

 

Dreams are fascinating. I recommend a dream journal.

 

the other night my boyfriend rolled over in his sleep and put his arm around me and i FLIPPED out. totally weird.

i feel the same way. i'm not mad about it. i can't believe that a movie i saw twice a week ago still has me convinced i'm gonna wake up and see someone in the corner. i'm so interested in the psychological aspect of that particular scene. the way the light adjust to toni floating on the ceiling is so subtle and obviously such a deep, visceral fear that it's STILL WITH ME!!!

 

oh man when peter finds his dad's body and then you see her up in the corner that was one of my "oh shit" audibles

 

My aunt fell asleep on the couch once and her arm was behind her head, but when she woke up, her hand was right over her face and she absolutely lost her shit thinking someone was grabbing her, haha

 

i had such a fun and interactive audience on first viewing and the second audience i saw it with was UNNATURALLY quiet that it made it twice as scary somehow? like none of them even fucking flinched.

 

This. I didn’t find that bizarre when I read the description, and it rang even truer watching the actual scene. Obviously I’ve never gone through something like that, but I can’t imagine anybody would be able to physically/mentally process something so traumatic. I think this is a frighteningly accurate representation of how any of us might react.

Yea it was fucked up but he was FUCKED UP by it. I cant even imagine if I somehow managed to do that how I would react.

 

I'm crestfallen if I step on a dogs' paw or a cats' tail, so I'm sure I'd be a complete mess for the rest of my life if something like that happened.

 

There has to be something with Peter's blank stares right? It was almost comical at first when it first happened with the girl in his class, maybe somehow he was already being effected? He has the same face before he makes the first cluck near the end.

Also realized the first sounds we hear in the opening shot as the father is stepping into Peters room is the sound of a camel walking, with the clucking...
