I came into this thread to talk about how I've been working out more, but then I saw the food talk and now I can't stop thinking about cheese.

A diet without cheese isn’t a diet worth being on tbh

I didn't even know this was a thing! And now I'm more sore today than when I posted about it. I did like glutes and hamstrings mostly which I rarely do but one of the machines was so fun and didn't even hurt while doing it so I did more than planned. And now I struggled to step over the edge of my bathtub to get in the shower lol.

I didn't work out last night because I figured I would double up tonight. But now I might be going drinking instead :ok:

I gained weight a year or two ago and just wanna lose like 5-10lb. Thought it wouldn't be that hard. like start exercising more and limiting junk/fast food. But omg. Just sux to make changes and see no results. I mean im healthier than i was when i weighed less and thats more important but dang did i underestimate the time and discipline.

Changes aren't going to happen overnight. All I can say is that if you live a healthy lifestyle you'll be happier and the weight loss will come over time. I personally do it for my mental health.

Not sure if this really the forum for this, but I wanted get people’s thoughts on gym etiquette.

I go to a small gym in a small town that usually isn’t too busy. There’s always enough room for everyone, and enough options that if someone is using what you want then you can adapt a bit.

Recently I had two separate interactions with two separate people while i was working on my pull-ups. We have one of those machines with the pulleys that you can hook up different attachments to. At the top are pull-up bars that i use, and I typically use a step stool so I don’t have to jump up and grab them.

A few weeks ago while I was in the middle of a set this guy slid underneath me and started setting up to use the pulleys. I had to let go with one hand and drop off to the side so that I didn’t fall on him. His immediate response was, “if I’m on your way just let me know”. He was literally under me though.

Then this week a different guy almost did the same thing but stepped back and waited for me to finish. I stepped back to rest and give him a turn, and as I stepped back up to take my next turn he kicked my stool away and just started doing the same exercise.

I was so taken back by it and I just didn’t know how to react. I just walked away because I don’t want to be getting into arguments with people, but something has to give. They are both older guys. One comes off as a real jerk, while the other seems completely oblivious to most things.

Has anyone had interactions like this? How did you handle it?

You either wait for the other person to finish their sets, or if you ask to be in the rotation, make sure to re-set it to what the original person was doing immediately after you finish.

If you do anything otherwise, you're kind of a dick.

I also work out at a smaller gym and it sucks for equipment but It's convenient as it's located near my work/house. Over the years I've started to improvise the workouts (switch the order or work the same muscle with a variation of the exercise) because it sucks just sitting there waiting for equipment and starring down others like a creep.

As for your situation I would just say politely that you have a certain amount of sets left and they can come back when you're done or you can ask them to work in with you but have them do there set when you're resting. It's pretty ridiculous that they can't wait for you to finish your set of pull ups.

Maybe if you see the same individuals try and time it so that you're doing your pullups when they're no where near the equipment.
