Been having flareups of stomach aches and acid reflux really bad for about a month now. Was in pretty much losing it about how uncomfortable it was making me all of time. Tums, Pepto, Alka Seltzer all have done nothing. Today i ground up some Ginger in some water and my stomach problems went away almost immediately. I'm convinced Ginger is a miracle herb now. Going to be buying it/using it on the regular from now on.

Only natural home remedy thing i swear by is Garlic. Works like a charm on toothaches (works better and much longer than even the strongest Oraljel) and is good for preventing colds.

i already had a NordicTrack treadmill so I went with the NordicTrack bike so I didn’t have to pay for a subscription for each. I may be able to afford a ridiculously priced exercise bike but can’t / don’t want to afford two different exercise subscription services lol

Tricks for curbing late night snacking? Been destroying myself with snacks every night after my 2-year old goes to sleep. Any advice welcomed.

Possibly dumb question, but are you eating enough during the day? I find usually when I get cravings like that it's a sign I'm lacking something in my diet during the day and then I binge a lot at night, or it means I'm restricting too much snack foods so I binge instead of using moderation throughout the week.

great point. I used to snack on sweets at night after being good all day. I’ve started changing to making some rice or buttered noodles at night instead which has been super helpful as I always feel like I don’t get enough carbs.

but then there are nights like tonight when I down a 12-pack of “party size” Reese’s cups in 5 minutes or so and wonder how any day is a success lmao

I just ate a pack of mini vegan cheesecakes so... i get it lol. It's discouraging but tomorrow is a new day. I tell myself that I did a favor by eating the cheesecake so now I have no more dessert to tempt me. Foolproof!

I try to. Tbh I think it’s all psychological because I meal prep for breakfast and lunch and then try to have some protein with veggies and starch for dinner.

This is it for me. It was really bad when I was working out AND biking 11 miles roundtrip to work every day. Lots of exercise but I was so hungry all the time and would just binge.

I cut that down during the pandemic, but when I feel it coming back is usually when I'm not eating enough during the day, like skipping snacks. I usually snack on fruit halfway between breakfast and lunch and yogurt between lunch and dinner. If dinner is going to be later and I can't wait, I'll go for fruit and nuts.

I also worked on cutting down my portions across all meals so I just can't eat as much in one sitting. I used to be a bottomless pit, but now I can stop myself just as I start to feel satiated.

You can also try something that feels like eating sweets, like chewing gum. Especially if it's getting close to bedtime, drinking water and chewing gum can work wonders for me.

Try giving yourself a little dessert shortly after dinner. It might be enough to satisfy that urge and curb any later cravings.

I've also read that chamomile tea can help regulate blood sugar, which can help with craving sweets. It also promotes relaxation and can help with sleep, so great for nighttime. (If you're not a tea drinker, it has a floral, vaguely apple-ish flavor, with some perceived sweetness but no sugar or calories.)

I want to get into the habit of drinking a glass of water before and after meals. I live with my bf now and he has been helping with meals and I've had to tell him a few times to stop giving me such big portions. I tend to eat what's on my plate and I feel perfectly full and fine with a smaller portion, but if the bigger one is in front of me I will eat it. Now I'm starting to adjust to bigger portions and I'd rather just start off small, drink some water, and then get seconds if I'm still hungry after that.

I'm genuinely curious as to whether La Croix is the same as "drinking water". You can easily find conflicting opinions on that to support whichever side you're for :crylaugh:

    Any insights?

I drink like 75% seltzers, 25% regular water and I'm doing great. It actually helps me to keep up with drinking all day since I enjoy it more than regular water. I do add electrolytes to make it a bit more effective too.

Not sure what could lead people to think that its not as hydrating as flat water when its literally H2O with some carbonation added. No added sugar/sodium or anything like that to cause dehydration and its not a diuretic either which can usually cause a false sense of hydration.

I figured. I used to just refill a huge yeti tumbler over and over at work but switched to La Croix's because my GF keeps the fridge stocked haha. Now I drink them more than her and more than normal water so I was curious.

Even coffee and caffeinated tea do not cause dehydration and count toward your water/liquid consumption. The mild diuretic effect of the caffeine is not enough to offset the amount of liquid you're putting into your body.

I cycle through different beverages throughout the day. Typically a combination of water and green tea in the morning, water and either Spindrift or iced tea in the afternoon, and water and beer in the evening.

I've been drinking too many diet and zero drinks. They make them better than the old diet drinks and I think I've just acquired more of a taste after trying a bunch of nasty protein/health drinks a while back. I was doing just seltzer water/tea/flat water for a while but yeah I've been too on these diet drinks. So far I think diet Dr pepper/diet Dr pepper cream soda and coke zero vanilla tastes the best. Pepsi Max was good too but I don't see it as much

Also yeah I see these new health and protein drinks/snacks and am always curious to try them but they're awful like 90% of the time. Idk why I always feel like I have to try it. Premier protein drinks and the quest chips are probably the best I've tried. Nearly everything else has been awful

My breakfast most days is a Kirkland-brand protein bar and they're fine. Not great, but far from terrible.

Recently got some of the TB12 plant-based protein (mixed berry) and I enjoy the feeling afterwards much more than when I was taking whey protein

What’s the downside to drinking these diets and zeros since they have no calories. Sodium? I’ve always wondered since most are no calories and zero sugar. I guess cause it’s a fake ish sugar?
