Hmm, for being out of shape, my heart rates (based on Fitbit) isn't as awful as I thought it'd be. Around 70 resting, and during my 'excercise' (that I'm sure many would consider a walk in the park) I was usually around 165.

Mine is around 100-120 resting. I've had ekgs done and there's nothing wrong with me but no one knows why it's always so high.

Your weight: it took longer than a day to gain, it will take longer than a day to lose.

If no one has ever said that, i claim copyright.

I haven't had any alcohol since April. Not to say I'm never going to drink beer again, but I think until I reach a more comfortable weight, it's best for me to lay off. Gotta say, I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Also, for those who are doing/who have done/who are planning on doing Couch to 5k, I did week 5, day 3 this morning. For those who don't know, that's when you make the jump from doing intervals to doing 20 minutes straight of running. Around the 12 minute mark, I seriously didn't think I was going to be able to finish, but I just kept pushing through, and I did it! It was such a great feeling! Now I just want to lay on the couch all weekend haha.

That's what I said, but here I am. Now that cookout season is in full swing, it's definitely going to get harder. And I will make an exception when I'm in Vegas for 3 days in July.

i tore a hole in the fabric of time Moderator

I hit the 20 minute mark and collapsed into my front yard. I heaved for a solid five minutes, but I was so proud.

Related to this thread, today is the first day I've posted a shirtless picture in six years on social media. So a pretty big confidence day.

Ran for the first time in a week today. Only got 3 miles in. Boy is it different running in 87 degree weather than 57. Not sure I'm going to enjoy this summer.

Y'ALL. I feel like I've been eating more healthy lately so I weighed myself and NO. I have gained ten pounds this is unacceptable like no. I refuse. Like I prob shouldn't care cause I think I look the same and I think I look okay and who cares about numbers but part of me does care and I cannot deal. I usually fluctuate within a ten pound range and I have surpassed that range. Was planning on going to McDs for a shake and fries and just went home instead cause I need to get my life together.

Thank God I ordered more sports bras cause I'm gonna dominate this away.

My advice is, just, never use the scales. The human brain is a fuck and numbers are your enemy. The main thing is that you look and feel okay in yourself. I got obsessed with weighing myself after I lost/starting losing weight (almost 3 stone) but weighing myself led to skipping meals etc. I very rarely weigh myself now because I just end up obsessing.

Hit 20 pounds down today. 16 of those in the last 6 weeks.

I've decided that if/when I get below 230 (which would be the lowest I've ever been), I'm buying myself an expensive music box set.

It's funny cause usually that's the advice I give ppl lol. I used to have some body image issues so scales to me are bad news. But I was proud of eating healthier and was curious and now I'm like ahhhh. I usually go by my pants lol. As long as my pants fit good im cool. I prob won't get on one again any time soon. It indicates to me though that I def have been too sedentary. I'm not working temporarily so there's lots of sitting around in my house. I need to start moving around again!

I didn't really start losing weight till I lost my job and couldn't afford Olive Garden every night. Add in a few miles of walking every morning, and suddenly you feel like Tony Horton, not Tim Horton. Now a couple months later, I'm running roughly 20 miles a week, down 34 pounds as of this morning.

I've gotten over my meltdown lol. Still working on being healthier tho. Starting out small cause I get intimidated. I'm trying to incorporate more veggies anywhere that I can and snack on healthier things. idk if I'm ready to cut things out that I love, but I'm trying to have more moderation and pay more attn to labels. I usually buy whatevers cheapest of everything, but I'm trying to compare labels more. It's kinda sad but unless I'm making sure something doesn't have meat, I never look at labels. I just eat what I like which is some healthy stuff and some junk but I wanna make sure I lean more towards healthy

I've now let someone scare me about my metabolism slowing down because I'm losing weight and it's really messing me up. Feels like you can't win.

Ignore them. As long as you're eating regular meals then you'll be fine.

I find as soon as you try to lose weight, everyone offers their opinions & tries to put you off. If losing weight is what you want to do, then do it.

Thanks. I feel happy and healthy, I'm down a shirt size and 20 pounds. I'm still eating 2000 calories a day and not doing any crash or deprivation diets. I honestly thought I was doing this the right way.

And then I let someone get in my head

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

tracking my meals over the last two or three weeks I find that I'm never at 2,000 calories a day. Unless I'd eat an entire pizza or something. Just don't seem to have a major appetite so i find myself at 1,500 max for each day. this makes me feel that i should be much farther along than i am for weight loss / how my body looks (difference between calorie intact and output hovers between 3k-4,500 a day) but after an initial surge of losing six pounds un about two weeks i don't see differences in numbers and physically, aside from some pants fitting better than others, i feel like i'm at a standstill.

really, if i could just get my fucking belly to retract about 3 inches i'd be very happy. i'm not in terrible shape / position (5' 11", 195 lbs) but i just have it all in the wrong goddamn place.
