I think they're working on announcing a fall headlining tour. I forgot where I heard that... but yeah. I'm still kicking myself for missing their tour with Norma Jean but I heard their set was super short anyways.

I didn't even know they were still a band.

  3. Sevendust have so many amazing hooks. Shame they ever let that scream rapping stuff happen. Why they would ever want to take the mic away from Lajon, I will never understand

Damn, that's awesome Few is doing them so well. Already prepping for new material is insane.

I love IAH so I'm down for anything in regards for that.

  5. Sevendust's last few albums are way above their numetal-y stuff, I highly recommend them. They even ditched the main screamer on the last one, which was a weird surprise. Lead guitarist does some growls now.

After some consideration, I think I'm going to put Few at third place behind It Hates You and Heavy Fruit. Maaaaybe 4th behind Suck Out the Poison but idk. It still rules hard though.

Is anyone going to see them this Thursday at the Starland in New Jersey?

These guys are playing on some pretty big rock festivals this year. I'm very pleased with the shows they've been able to play since Heavy Fruit's release. Looks like the days of opening for shitty scene bands is behind them.

  9. Before their hiatus I think they were still touring with mostly scene bands, so I'm glad they distanced themselves from that and gained recognition as a purely metal band.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them a metal band. They are definitely hard rock now in the vein of bands like Alice In Chains, Nickelback, Shinedown, etc.

Idk I think they definitely draw a lot from Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, and STP but I view them as a lot different from post-grunge like Nickelback. Way more weird and creative.

  12. I agree on Alice In Chains, but they're way more experimental than the latters. Their blues, psych and sludge influences distinguish them from the post grunge scene.

They fit in better with QOTSA, Mastodon, Deftones, Alice In Chains.

    Genre bending Alt-metal.

They would cringe to hear themselves compared to nickelback or shine down, fuck.

They were soundchecking Beaufort and Eating A Book on their Instagram story today. I'm really excited to see what their setlist is going to be for this tour.

My new and improved HIL ranking:

    Heavy Fruit
    It Hates You
    few
    Suck Out the Poison
    I Am Hollywood

HF only ascended to number 1 in the past month or two. IHY was my number one for years. Few is phenomenal and I love it, don't get me wrong, but maybe the songs are too short or something? I don't know, but it's definitely a banger and I still return to it often. SOTP just nails the creepy fairy tale aspect, and has amazing riffs. My only complaint is the production. IAH is classic but after seeing what the band would become, it doesn't sound fully realized. Still great though. I love this band.

Decided to spontaneously drive over to Pittsburgh for their show tonight after work (2 hours from Cleveland, so not too bad).

The sound was a little better than the last time I saw them but we still needed more Schuylar. It's their own sound guy so that must just be their/his preference but I just do not get it.

Another shortish set but it fucking ruled. Beaufort to open set off the groove. The Seduction second was a nice touch. I'd never seen them play that so early in a set and it really set the energy, though the crowd was already up for Beaufort and just the new stuff in general, which sounded fucking great. Fucking Eating a Book fuuuuuuck. Fun night.

I don't like to admit this, but I feel like Few sort of came and went for me. Like, there are some definite standout tracks on there but I don't find myself returning to the full album so much where as with Heavy Fruit I would just listen to that from beginning to end constantly when it came out

Yeah this one didn't reach the heights of Heavy Fruit and It Hates You for me. It did give us Beaufort and Eastern Locust though, which are two of my favorite Legend jams now.

    The sword and the faith.

Hey fellow HIL fans, hoping you can help me out with something:
I played That's Nasty on youtube and noticed the vocals are a lot smoother / lighter (think 91025 vs Suck Out The Poison) than the 'album' version I have. I went and listened to the clip preview of it on iTunes, same as Youtube. And its way too different to just be that I'm listening to it on my PC rather than in my car where I usually listen to it. Does anyone know if a demo / alternate version of this song exists? From everything I've read only a few (Don't Touch That Dial, Decisions, ect) have demo versions. Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you post a link? I know the vinyl is mastered differently than the CD, but the vocals didn't really stick out as too different to me, more the drums and guitars.
