Not to take anything away from you dumpweed but feel like that’s been talked about for like 10 years

And there goes any potential hype.

Who wants to see The Sorcerer’s Stone expanded to 10 hours?!? I’m shocked it’s not going to be a Lily/James Hogwarts series since there’s actually room to do something new there.

I’ll be shocked if this is actually green lit if it’s the standard book adaptations.

I won’t be shocked at all. Fantastic Beasts fizzled out. They need the big guns. I’m guess all or some combo of the Golden Trio refuse to come back for a Cursed Child movie. Going back to the story they know is a success is an understandable move.

Yup, they’re gonna flesh it out with more side characters in hopes they can spin some stuff off of it.

  7. makes sense that JK would be involved, but that also sucks.

Don’t do it. The original films are not amazing but they had a certain charm that was only captured in the 2000s. Just leave it be. Make a show based on new characters and stories.

  9. or better yet, just leave the entire HP franchise alone so JK Rowling can just fizzle out.

That’s not an option. The franchise makes way too much money. Just look at the sales numbers for Hogwarts Legacy.

  11. It's an option. But Hollywood is just too greedy, immoral, and lacks integrity.

I agree that if Hollywood had any morality then about 50% of everything they make would never be released. We are taking about an industry that allowed someone like Weinstein to be in power for decades even though a high number of people knew he was abusing his power.

Welp. I think it’s unnecessary to recast and redo the story from the books but Discovery knows they’ll get subscribers. I’ll watch the first season, but it’s going to be tough to beat the original cast. JK Rowling will be an executive producer.

All thoughts on HP, Max, etc aside, it does feel refreshing and intriguing to get a faithful adaptation of something. Hopefully viewers are spared all the moans and groans that come with plot changes.

I think the point is to avoid changing things. Stuff like SPEW being cut will now fit into a season of TV.

The question is whether they stick with the iconic world designs (and score) of the films, or if they go their own route and redesign things fresh for the series. The only official thing released for this uses both the films' design for Hogwarts and John Williams' Hedwig's Theme.

Honestly WB should have just bought her out like Disney did Lucas. The ability to let new creators play in this world would bring some much life and longevity vice a quick pop that probably won’t last as long as they think.

  20. On one hand, I really love this because for me personally the movies have never held up (I’m not saying they are bad because they are for the most part not but they just never landed for me). I have always found them pretty cringey because you can tell they wanted to give a wink to book fans with certain references but also had to make it make sense to non-book fans. It’s hard to explain but I’m such a fan of the series and people are always confused when I tell them this, haha.

Now having said that… Dan, Emma, and Rupert ARE those characters. Alan Rickman and Tom Felton are their characters. It almost feels wrong to see anyone else do it, haha. I’m really curious how they approach this.

Yeah I have no idea how you replace Rickman as Snape. Whoever they cast has ginormous shoes to fill.

I honestly feel like the only choice is Adam Driver, but who knows if he can even pull off a British accent or would even want to sign up for 10 years of a tv series.

Driver would be perfect, but he ain’t signing up for this unfortunately. Feels like they’re going to go the Amazon Lord Of The Rings route and just cast a ton of lesser known people.
